대학생 통일교육 효과성 연구 : 통일교육선도대학 신입생 사례 (A study on the effectiveness of university students' unification education : The Case of Freshmen at Leading Universities in Unification Education)

초록

이 연구는 경기대학교 통일교육선도대학이 2021년 신입생들에게 실시한 통일교육이 그들의 통일역량 강화에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있는지를 알아보기 위한 경험 분석이다. 통일교육 전과 후에 신입생들의 통일역량지수의 변화 양상을 종합적으로 분석하여 통일교육에 대한 올바른 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.
먼저, 1차 조사는 통일교육선도대학에서 통일교육을 전혀 받지 않은 경기대 신입생을 모집단으로 하여 660명을 추출하여 통일역량 조사를 실시하였다. 질문은 <평화통일 실현의지>, <융합적 안보의식>, <균형있는 북한관>, <민주시민의식> 4개의 주제에 대해 36문항을 구성하였다. 그리고 2차 조사는 1차 조사와 달리 선도대학에서 개설한 통일교육 정규강좌나 통일교육 참가형 프로그램에 참여한 신입생 중 97명을 대상으로 통일역량을 측정하였다. 다만 2차 조사의 질문지는 1차 조사와 동일하게 구성하였다. 최종적으로 1, 2차 조사에서 얻은 데이터를 비교분석하여 선도대학에서 통일교육을 받은 신입생들의 통일역량지수의 변화량을 도출하였다. 그 결과 선도대학에서 통일교육을 받은 학생들의 통일역량지수는 평균 약 1.88포인트 높게 나타났다. <균형있는 북한관> 주제에 대한 지수는 무려 7.32 포인트나 상승하는 효과를 보았다. 따라서 선도대학의 참가형 통일교육과 학생들의 통일역량지수 사이에는 상관관계가 있는 것으로 볼 수 있다.
다만 경기대 신입생들의 통일역량지수는 1, 2차 조사에서 모두 저조한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 ‘융합적 안보의식’ 주제에 대한 통일역량 지수는 1차 조사보다 2차 조사에서 2.96포인트 감소하는 역진 현상을 보였다. 이 부분에 대한 교육내용과 교육방법의 개선이 더욱 절실한 것으로 보인다. 결론적으로, 선도대학의 학습자 참가형 통일교육은 신입생들의 통일역량 강화에 효과적임을 알 수 있다. 단지 이 효과는 지극히 한정적이므로 통일교육 플랜을 장기적으로 꾸준히 끌어갈 필요성이 있다.

영어초록

This study is an empirical analysis to find out how unification education conducted by Kyunggi University's leading unification education for new students in 2021 is affecting their unification capabilities. It aimed to present the right direction for unification education by comprehensively analyzing the changes in the unification competency index of freshmen before and after education.
The first survey was conducted by extracting 660 new students from Gyeonggi University who did not receive any unification education from leading universities. As for the questions, the 36 questions were composed of four topics: Will to realize peaceful unification, Awareness of Convergent Security, A Balanced View of North Korea, and Awareness of Democratic Citizenship.
And unlike the first survey, the second survey measured the unification capabilities of 97 freshmen who participated in the unification education program opened by leading universities. However, the second survey was composed in the same way as the first survey.
Finally, by comparing and analyzing the data obtained from the 1st and 2nd surveys, to derive the change in the unification competency index of freshmen who received unification education at leading universities. As a result, the unification competency index of students who received unification education at leading universities was about 1.88 points higher on average. The index on the subject of "Balanced North Korea View" increased by 7.32 points. Therefore, it can be seen that there is a correlation between the participatory unification education of leading universities and the unification competency index of students.
However, The unification competency index of freshmen at Kyunggi University was found to be low in both the first and second surveys. In particular, the unification capability index on the themes of "convergence security consciousness" showed a backward phenomenon, which decreased by 2.96 points in the second survey compared to the first survey. It seems that there is an urgent need to improve the content and method of education in this area.
In conclusion, the learner-participating unification education at the leading university is effective in the unification capabilities of new students. However, since this effect is immensely restricted, it is necessary to carry out the unification education plan steadily over the long term.
