南京 出土 南朝 塑造像의 製作技法과 生産體系 (The Production Techniques and System of Figurines Excavated from Nanjing of the Southern Dynasties)

초록

남경 출토 소조상의 제작 공정을 복원하고 그 성격을 파악하는 것을 통해 남조 소조상의 생산.관리체계가 어떠했는지를 검토하였다. 남경 출토 소조상의 제작 공정 중 施釉 흔적을 확인하고 유약의 사용과 소성의 문제에대해 집중적으로 분석하였다. 상정림사 출토 인물두상(T405:41)에서는 황색 유약이 균일하게 칠해진 것으로 파악되었고 건업구 출토 소조상들에서는 黃釉, 褐釉, 綠釉의 흔적이 확인되었다. 이러한 소조상에 칠해진 유약의성분에 대해서는 구체적으로 판단하기는 힘들었지만 유약의 색깔, 태토와 유약의 결합과 견고함 등으로 高溫釉 가 아닌 低溫釉, 즉 鉛釉로 추정하였다.
남경 출토 소조상에서 확인된 시유 흔적을 불교조각상 이외에 유약이 칠해진 남조의 다른 기물들의 사례에 대해 살펴보았다. 남조 연유기물은 현존 유물이 부족하기 때문에 문헌기록도 함께 검토하였다. 그 결과, 남조대에는 벼루 상자, 벼루, 바루, 병풍 등 일상생활에서 연유기물을 애용하였던 사실을 발견할 수 있었다. 또한 서한대남월국 궁전 건물지에서 이미 녹유 기와가 사용된 것을 확인하였고 이는 남조대에도 건축 부재로 녹유제품이 사용되었음을 시사하는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 이러한 검토 결과는 기존 학계의 주장처럼 남조는 청자를 대표로 한도자기만이 존재하였다는 분위기에서 벗어날 수 있는 계기를 마련해 줄 수 있을 것이다.
남조 소조상이 출토된 유적지의 성격과 소조상이 생산된 공방과 이를 관리감독한 기구에 대해 살펴보았다. 상정림사지 소조상이 출토된 지점의 성격에 대해서는 발굴보고자는 구체적인 언급을 하지 않았다. 필자는 건물지의 평면구조에 근거하여 목탑지로 추정하기는 다소 무리가 있다고 보았다. 백제 소조상이 금당지에서도 출토되는 사실에 근거하여, 불상을 안치한 예배공간의 건물에 봉안되었을 가능성을 조심스럽게 상정해 보았다. 建.區 소조상의 출토지 성격에 대해서는 발굴보고자의 견해와는 달리 연흥사 폐기구덩이일 가능성과 가마시설을 갖춘공방지일 가능성도 있는 등 두 가지 추정안을 제기하였다.
陶製品을 생산한 工匠은 필요에 따라 여러 제품을 제작한 것으로 추정되고 있다. 이는 모든 흙과 관련된 제품(陶器)의 생산을 관리.감독한 기구가 甄官署라는 사실에서 판단하였다. 남조시대 官窯에서 생산된 도자기가 궁중에 공급되었다는 점은 황실발원 사찰에 봉안되는 소조상 역시 견관서에서 관리한 관영공방에서 제작.공급되었음을 시사하는 것으로 이해될 수 있다.

영어초록

In this paper I reconstruct the production process of clay figurines excavated from Nanjing南京. Through that I attempt to understand the character of the production and management systems of the production of clay figurines in the Southern Dynasties. I confirm traces of the use of glaze in the production process and I intensively analyse the problem of the firing and use of the glaze. I find that the glaze on a excavated human head figure (T405:41) from the Shangdinglinsi temple site上定林寺址 is yellow and was painted on evenly. I confirm traces of yellow, brown, and green glazes on clay figurines from Jianyequ建鄴區. It is difficult to concretely estimate the ingredients of the glazes of such figurines, but by the colour and combination and hardness of the inclusions it seems to be low temperature instead of high temperature glaze and so I infer that it is a lead glaze. I look closely at examples of other objects of the Southern Dynasties that are painted with glaze other than the Buddhist statuary of Nanjing. It has been discovered that lead glazed objects of the Southern Dynasties used in everyday life include ink stone boxes, ink stones, bowls, and folding screens. Also, it has already been confirmed that yellow glazed roof tiles were used at the Nanyue南越國 palace building of the Western Han Dynasty. It also looks as if yellow-glazed materials were used in the buildings of the Southern Dynasties. With such findings, we have an opportunity to prepare to break away from the environment of the claims of established academic world of the existence of celadon as the only representative of the Southern Dynasties. I look closely at the official management tools through the character of archaeological sites at which Southern Dynasties clay figurines have been excavated and the production workshops of the figurines. The archaeological excavators of the Shangdinglinsi temple site上定林寺址 do not comment concretely on the character of the location from which the figurines were excavated. Based on the plan shape of the building, it appears as if there were many groups at what appears to have been a wooden pagoda. Based on the fact that figurines were excavated from the main hall in Baeje百濟, I carefully hypothesize that it is possible that this is Buddhist statuary enshrined in area laid out for worship. I suggest the two possibilities that character of the area from which figurines at Jianyequ建鄴區 were excavated was a rubbish site of the Yanxingsi延興寺 temple or the kiln of a production site. Following the necessity of a master artisan for the production of earthenware, it is suggested that all kinds of products were made this way. The production of all products made with earth official managed tools are called Zhenguanshu甄官署. Ceramics produced in the official kilns of the Southern Dynasties were supplied to the royal court and it can be understood that figurines enshrined in the temple of the imperial household were produced in and supplied from the Zhenguanshu甄官署 officials workshop.
