초록

本稿は日本古典テキストに形象化された推理技法に注目し、日本ならではの内的な伝統を持つ推理叙事の様相について考察したものである。推理叙事の代表的な様式である推理小説は十九世紀前半欧米から始まり、日本と韓国のような東アジアにおいては二十世紀前後発達し始めたと知られている。とはいうものの、推理叙事とは、事件や犠牲者、犯人、その謎を解くために奔走する解決者、またミステリーの真相を推理しつつ謎解きに参加する読者が存在する叙事文学であると規定できるため、その淵源は近代以前に遡ることができる。日本古典テキストには近代以後の本格的な推理叙事には及ばないものの、謎とその解決の提示という推理技法が用いられたテキストが数多く存在する。謎解きのモチーフを持つ説話を始め、物語文学、江戸時代の「比事物」もミステリーを解決していくという共通的な構造を持っている。本稿では、その具体的な様相を『源氏物語』夕顔物語を起点として、『古事記』の三輪山神話、『今昔物語集』巻第二十九に収められている三つの話、江戸時代の裁判物である井原西鶴の『本朝桜陰比事』に用いられた推理技法に注目し考察した。考察の結果、日本の推理叙事は日本ならではの叙事伝統の中でつながれてきたと言えよう。謎、すなわちミステリーへの探求は未知のものに対する好奇心が人間の本源的な欲求であるだけに、神話、伝説、説話など口伝文学から記載文学にいたるまでミステリーは叙事文学のプロットには欠かせない要素である。それだけに、謎解きという推理技法は日本における古典叙事の伝統の中においても当然用いられていたのである。さらに、このようなことは中国と韓国など東アジアの叙事伝統においても同じく確認することができる。中国の公安小説やそれと緊密な関わりを持つ朝鮮時代の訟事小説にも注目してみたとき、東アジアにおける推理叙事の内的な伝統にまでその観点を拡大していくことができると思われる。

영어초록

This study paid attention to wide-meaning mystery techniques having been drawn on Japanese classical texts, and looked into aspects of the detective narrative that had inherent tradition of East Asia itself separately from that of the West. Detective stories having representative forms of the detective narrative started from the West in the first half of the 19th century, and was known as being developed in the oriental region such as Japan and Korea before and after the 20th century. However, the detective narrative consists of incident, victim, and criminals, and detective services that are busy going here and there to solve the riddle is existed, and it can be also defined as stories having narrative structures in which readers participate in the riddle-solving while figuring out the truth of mystery, so its origin could be gone back to pre-modern times. Also, when thinking about detective narratives of East Asia including Korea and Japan etc., intrinsic motives have not to be overlooked. The riddle, that is research on mysteries derive from curiosities on unknown things as human’s fundamental desires, so it is corresponded to elements that cannot be omitted in the plot of narrative literature from oral literature of the East and West to substrate literature such as myths, legend, and tales. Thus, mystery techniques called riddle-solving have been used in classical narrative traditions of East Asia including China, Korea, and Japan etc., naturally, and the origin of detective narratives can be confirmed in narrative traditions in the East apart from western influences. The study took notice of mystery techniques shown at Yugao story of『Genji Monogatari』, Miwayama myth listed in『Kojiki』, a tale using mystery techniques and written down to No. 29 of『Konzyakumonogatarisyu』,『Honchououinhiji』by Ihara Saikaku that was a judgment-related book in Edo period.
Through this consideration, this study was able to confirm a fact that Japanese detective narrative literature after modern times have been developed by regarding detective narrative traditions of oriental ancients as intrinsic motives, not to mention of western influences. In addition, when closely watching Korean classical texts to which mystery techniques were introduced, its viewpoints could be expanded to inherent traditions of detective narratives in East Asia.
