공간디자인에서 비물질적 요소인 빛의 특성과 유형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics and Types of Light, Non-material Element in Space Design)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 빛은 공간의 디자인과 분위기에 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 공간에서 빛의 다양한 표현 특성과 유형을 연구함으로써 빛이 공간디자인에 있어서 다양한 각도에서 표현됨을 강조하고자 하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 공간에서의 빛을 특성별로 분류하고 유형화하고, 사례를 통해 표현되는 빛의 특성들을 검증하는 학문적 연구를 진행하였다. 공간디자인에서 빛을 적극적으로 활용하기 위한 이론적 기반을 마련한다는 접근을 기초로 한 본 연구는 공간디자인에서 비물질적인 요소인 빛이 다양한 특성으로 제시되고 있으며, 유형에 따라 분류함으로써 우세하게 나타나는 표현 특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 공간에서의 빛은 사용자의 경험을 증가시키는 다양한 특성들로 나타나며, 효과적인 표현을 위해 공간디자인에서 우세하게 제시되고 있는 특성을 밝히고, 그 표현의 의미를 확인하는 데에 연구의 목적이 있다. (연구방법) 연구의 진행은 먼저 빛은 비물질적인 특성을 가지고 있지만 공간을 디자인하는 요소로서 대상이 될 수 있음을 이론적으로 밝히고, 빛의 특성은 디자인의 대상이 되었을 때 언어적 특성을 갖게 됨을 설명하였다. 다음으로 빛의 특성을 유형화하기 위해 문헌을 수집하고 분석하여 특징들을 추출하고, 표현의 빈도를 측정하여 정량적인 범주화를 진행하였다. 또한 최종 도출된 유형의 범주화를 사례 분석의 틀로 다시 적용함으로써 연구의 타당성을 높이고자 하였으며, 빛의 특성들은 시대적 흐름에 따라 나타난 각각의 디자인 사례들을 통해서 실제 공간디자인에서 적극적으로 활용되고 적용됨을 검증하였고, 그 결과 우세하게 나타나게 되는 빛의 특징을 확인하였다. (결과) 데이터를 수집하고 분류하여 정량적인 방법으로 빛의 특성을 범주화 한 결과, 위상적 표현으로서의 빛의 특성, 상징정보로서의 빛의 특성, 정보 소통의 매개로서의 빛의 특성으로 유형화 할 수 있었다. 유형화 과정과 사례를 검증하는 과정에서 가장 우세하게 빈도가 측정된 유형은 위상적 표현으로서의 빛의 특성이었다. 검증과정에서 시대 순으로 빛의 표현 특성을 분석했을 때, 현재로 접근할수록 빈도가 증가하는 유형은 정보 소통의 매개로서의 빛의 특성으로 파악되었다. (결론) 본 연구를 통해 공간디자인에 있어서 빛은 다양한 특성으로 제시되고 있으며, 가장 우세하게 나타나는 특징은 위상적 표현으로서의 빛의 특성으로 이를 통해 공간에서의 빛은 비물질적 요소로서 예술적 표현의 주제가 되며, 공간의 이미지를 제시하고 장소성을 부여하는 중요한 역할을 함을 확인하였다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) Light has a significant impact on the design and atmosphere of a space. This study aims to emphasize the various angles from light is expressed in space design by examining its different characteristics and types of light in space. Therefore, this is an academic research that assesses and categorises the characteristics of light in space and validates the characteristics of light expressed through examples. This study proposes a theoretical foundation for the active use of light in space design. It suggests that light, as a non-material element in space design, has various dominant expressive characteristics, and the expressive characteristics that are classified by type. The study identifies the characteristics that are dominant in space design for effective expression and confirms the significance of the expression. (Method) The research process initially reveals that although light has immaterial characteristics, it can be treated as an object in designing space. Furthermore, the characteristics of light acquire linguistic characteristics when it becomes an object of design. explained. Next, a literature review was conducted to extract features, measure their frequency of expression, and perform a quantitative categorisation to classify light characteristics. In addition, the aim was to increase the validity of the study by reapplying the finally classification type as a framework for the case analysis. Through each design case that appeared over time, it was verified that the characteristics of light were actively used and applied in the actual design of the space. As a result, the dominant light characteristics were confirmed. (Results) As a result of collecting and classifying the data and categorizing the characteristics of light in a quantitative way, it was possible to categorize them into characteristics of light as topological expression, characteristics of light as symbolic information, and characteristics of light as a medium for information communication. In the process of typing and verifying cases, the type with the most dominant frequency was the characteristic of light as a topological expression. When analyzing the expressive characteristics of light in chronological order during the verification process, the type whose frequency increases as it approaches the present was identified as the characteristic of light as a medium for information communication. (Conclusions) Through this study, light is presented in various characteristics in space design, and the most advantageous feature is the characteristics of light as a phase expression, which is the theme of artistic expression as a non-material element. It has been confirmed that it played an important role in presenting images and in giving a sense of place.
