전북 서부지역에서 백제 횡혈식석실분의 전개 과정 (The Development Process of Baekje Stone Chamber Tomb in the Western Region of Jeonbuk)

초록

이 글에서는 전라북도 서부 해안과 평야지대에서 횡혈식석실분이 등장한 시점부터 사비기에 능산리 유형의 전형적인 백제 석실이 확산되기까지 주요 지역별로 석실의 수용 양상과 전개 과정을 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 석실 조영과 백제와의 관계, 지역사회의 구조를 추론해 보았다.
금강하류 남안 및 만경강유역권에서는 한성기 말에 해상교통과 관련된 해안과 금강 하류에서 먼저 횡혈식석실묘가 등장하였다. 웅진 천도 후 금강수로 이용과 관련하여 금강 남안 일대에 집중적으로 조영되었으며, 내륙으로 일부 확산되었으나 이곳의 석실분에서는 분구묘 전통이 일부 남았다. 6세기 중후반의 정황은 명확하지 않으나 7세기 이후 미륵산 일대를 중심으로 무왕의 익산 개발 과정에서 최고 위계의 석실분군이 나타났다. 금강 하류 남안과 금마 이동의 내륙에는 최고 위계의 석실은 소수 개별적으로 축조되고 군집분의 석실은 등급이 떨어지는 양상을 보인다.
정읍 등 중방성 권역에서도 웅진기 후반에 횡혈식석실분이 등장하지만 군집분이 조성되는 것은 웅진기 말이나 사비기 초다. 사비기에 들어와 전형적인 능산리식 석실이 가장 밀집한 중심지로 부상하여 중방 고사성의 위상을 잘 보여주며, 고분군의 규모, 석실의 형식 등으로 보아 중방성 내에서도 지역마다 위상이 달랐음을 알 수 있다.
고창 지역은 영산강유역권의 묘제와 유사한 양상을 보이는데, 한성기 말에 분구묘에 횡혈식석실이 도입되며 고총을 웅진기 전반까지 유지하였으나 사비기에 들어와서는 고창 예지리 고분 등을 제외하면 전형적인 능산리식 석실이 군집한 모습은 아직 확인되지 않았다.

영어초록

In this article, I looked at the acceptance patterns and development process of stone chambers in each major region, from the time when stone chamber tombs appeared to the spread of typical Baekje stone chambers in the Sabi period in the western region of Jeollabuk-do. Based on this, the relationship with the construction of the stone chamber and Baekje, and the structure of the local community were inferred.
In the south bank of the lower Geum River and the Mangyeong River Basin, at the end of the Hanseong period, stone chamber tombs with corridor first appeared on the coast and the lower part of the Geum River related to maritime traffic. After the transfer of the capital to Ungjin, it was built intensively in the southern part of the Geum River in relation to the use of the Geum River waterway. stone chambers have spread inland, but some of the traditions of mounded tombs remain in the stone chamber tombs here. After the 7th century, in the process of developing Iksan by King Mu, centering on the Mireuksan area, a group of stone chamber tombs of the highest stature appeared. In the southern areas of the lower Geum River and inland areas, stone chambers of the highest rank are built sporadically, and stone chambers in groups show a pattern of falling in grade.
Even in the Jungbangseong area centered on Jeongeup, the stone chambers appeared in the late Ungjin period, but the cluster tombs were created in the late Ungjin period or the early Sabi period. In the Sabi period, this place emerged as the center where typical Neungsan-ri style stone chambers were most concentrated, showing the status of Jungbangseong well. On the other hand, judging from the size of the tomb group and the style of the stone chamber, it can be seen that the status was different for each region within Jungbangseong.
The Gochang area is similar to the Yeongsan River basin in terms of tomb construction. At the end of the Hanseong period, a transverse stone chamber was introduced to the mound tomb. The large tomb was maintained until the first half of the Ungjin period. However, in the Sabi period, except for the Gochang Yeji-ri tomb, typical Neungsan-ri stone chambers clustered have not yet been confirmed.
