    초록

The original study about the Background of Publishment of Geneological Table revealed that there have been made a lot of genealogical tables called “Jasonbo(子孫譜)”, in order to maintain the long history of a family and to gain physical profits such as family asset and fame. However, when we look at some genealogical tables made in early Joseon dynasty called 『Andong Gwon Ssi Sungwhabo(安東權氏成化譜)』 and 『Munhwa Liu Ssi Gajungbo(文化柳氏嘉靖譜)』, they include some evidences that such genealogical tables were not only made to record the history of family. Ancestors of those families selected recorded offsprings on the basis of “lineage”, which seems rather too thorough. In other words, the two genealogical tables did follow the general tendency of “jasonbo”, which recorded all offsprings and descendants of a family. However, from the perspective of descendants, it only included the blood offsprings of sons and daughters. Yet, from the perspective of son and daughters in law, their own offsprings were totally isolated from the table, since they do not have direct blood relationship with the family. Moreover, the way those documents dealt with the offsprings that shared only one side of parents were ambiguous. If a father was recorded as a “son”, his offsprings were also recorded. However, if a father was recorded as a “son in law”, the sons and daughters of different mothers were either included or not, and the relationship between them was totally ignored. In conclusion, those two genealogical tables completely neglected non-blood family members, and if two offsprings were not born from the same parents, they could not be considered as “shared spirits(同氣)”.
Among the reasons why those two tables emphasized the lineage so importantly was the physical profit of inheritance of family property. In order to gain advantage in inheriting properties, our ancestors made much effort in excluding non-blood members despite the hard word. Moreover, the rules of distributing assets were formed and changed in early Joseon dynasty, because of the properties of a couple with no children, kings' family, and the powerful clan that has collapsed. In deed, such tendency stimulated the importance of recording a family history.
