한국고전번역원 부설 고전번역교육원교육과정의 분석－1974~2017, 44년간 개설과목을 중심으로－ (Study on the curriculum of the educational course of the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics, 1974~2017)

초록

본고에서는 고전번역교육원의 교육과정을 개설과목을 중심으로 분석하여 다음과 같이 시기를 구분하였다.




(1)제 1기 1974년~1985년：한학세대 재교육 및 연구･번역 중심의 교육(2)제 2기 1986년~2007년：한문 구문해석과목 중심의 서당식 교육 재연(3)제 3기 2008년~현재：한국고전번역원 설립 이후 구문해석 위주 교육에 대한 반성과 번역 실무교육에 대한 관심 증가

제 1기에는 교육의 목표가 기존 한학출신자들에게 한글 번역 원고 작성을 교육하고 연구능력을 함양하여 역자로 양성하는 데 있었다. 2기에는 한학출신자들이 감소하여 입학생들의 한문능력이 저하되자 한문 문리를 교육하기 위해 한문 구문해석 과목이 증가하여 한문 어학교육의 특성이 강화되었다. 3기에는 한국고전번역원의 설립과 더불어 정책적인 관점에서 교과목의 조정이 이루어졌다. 한문 구문해석과목과 역사과목, 법제, 사상 등 전체 교과목의 균형을 중시하고, 번역실무교육을 강화하는 경향이 나타났다. 44년간의 개설과목에서 나타나는 흐름을 보면 환경의 변화에 선제적으로 대응하기보다는 입학생의 특성에 따라 교육내용이 수동적으로 변화한 측면이 있다.
인재상의 측면에서 보면 교육원 설립 초기에는 연구능력과 번역능력을 갖춘 인재를 양성하는 것이 목표였다. 그러나 80년대 중반 이후 교육과정은 한문 구문해석능력 습득에 치중하여 연구측면에서는 오히려 퇴행적인 모습을 보였다. 이를 개선하기 위해, 기존의 ‘문리’(한문구문해석력) 교육 이외에도, 문장력과 지식 및 연구역량 측면의 교육이 보충되어야 할 것이다.

영어초록

In this paper, we classify the curriculum of the educational course of the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics as follows.
(1)The first period 1974~1985: Education that had the function of reeducation for the Hanhak students(Classical Chinese generation students) and the translation-oriented education (2)The second period From 1986 to 2007: Replay of the Sodang-style (old Korean tradional school) education through the operation of the classical Chinese sentence parsing course (3)The third period 2008 ~ present: After the establishment of the the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics, the reflection on the education based on the classical Chinese sentence parsing course and the interest in the translation education increased In the first period, there was an emphasis on encouraging existing Hanhak students(Classical Chinese generation students) to advance their research skills and translating into Korean. In the second period, as the number of Hanhak students decreased, Quantity of the classical Chinese sentence parsing courses encreased.
In the thirdperiod, the point of education was to strengthen the translation education.
The overall trend seems to be that the contents of education have changed passively according to the characteristics of the students, rather than preemptively responding to changes.
In terms of human resources, it was aimed at talented people with research ability and translation ability at the beginning of the institute. However, since the 1990s, the curriculum has been rather regressive in terms of training functional translation workers. In order to improve this, besides the traditional ‘Munri’ (interpreting ability of Chinese sentence) education, it is necessary to supplement the education of knowledge and research capability. The current curriculum of the institute is divided into a short term intensive learning course and a maximum of 2 years. The research course is operated by a 2 year deepening course, The process of training classical translators should be shortened to four years. It is advisable that further proficiency is obtained through a separate graduate course.
