초록

이 논문은 한국고전번역원에서 편찬된 공구서의 편찬 경위와 특징 및 의의를 고찰하고, 그것을 바탕으로 향후 공구서 편찬에 대한 의견을 제시한 것이다.
[한국문집총간 해제]는 1986년에 처음 기획되었다. [한국문집총간]을 이용하는 연구자에게 해당 문집의 특징과 한계를 밝힘으로써 연구자가 자료 이용의 객관성을 유지할 수 있도록 하였으며, 동시에 해당 문집에 대한 매뉴얼과 같은 역할을 하도록 하였다. 1991년 제1집이 출간된 이후 정편을 대상으로 한 것이 제6집까지 6책으로 이미 완간되었고, 속편을 대상으로 한 것이 제7집에서 제11집까지 5책으로 완료될 예정이다. 2011년 현재 제8집까지 간행되었다.
[한국문집총간 색인]은 [한국문집총간 해제]와 마찬가지로 1986년에 처음 기획되었다. [한국문집총간]의 개별 문집에 수록된 각종 정보의 효율적인 검색을 목적으로 기획된 것으로, 다양한 색인 기법을 시도함으로써 연구자가 원전에 입체적인 접근이 가능하도록 편찬되었다. [한국문집총간 색인]은 제1~8집까지 간행되었는데, [한국문집총간] 정편 1~48집에 수록된 총 212종의 문집을 대상으로 하고 있는 내용 중심의 종합 색인이다.
[고전용어 시소러스]는 2005년 교육인적자원부가 지원하는 국학진흥사업의 일환으로 추진되었다. [한국문집총간 색인]과 한국고전번역원에서 출간한 번역서 색인의 용어를 기반으로 하여, 다양한 형태의 용어를 우선어를 중심으로 유의어, 관련어, 상위어, 하위어 등으로 관계를 규정함으로써 정보 검색의 효율성을 제고를 꾀하였다. 한국고전번역원에서 구축한 각종 데이터베이스와 시소러스로 검색이 가능하도록 연계함으로써 자료를 보다 유용하게 활용할 수 있게 하였다.
[한국문집총간 편목색인] 은 [한국문집총간] 정편 350집을 내용에 따라 傳記類, 序跋類, 記文類, 論說類, 疏箚類, 書簡類 등으로 분류하고, 추출된 키워드에 篇目을 연계시킴으로써 [한국문집총간 색인ㆍ해제]와 함께 [한국문집총간]을 보다 체계적이고 효율적으로 활용할 수 있도록 하는 것이 편찬의 목적이다. 2009년에 전기류 3책이 간행되었다.
[한국문집총간 편람]은 [한국문집총간] 정편에 수록된 663종의 문집을 대상으로 개별 문집에 대한 제반 정보를 한 권의 책에 간략하게 정리하고 이를 한국어뿐만 아니라 중국어, 일본어, 영어로 번역하여 발간함으로써 국내외의 연구자는 물론 일반 대중에게도 한국학의 풍부함과 다양성을 소개하고자 하였다. 2010년에 1책으로 간행되었다.
[한국문집총간]이 표점, 목차, 해제, 색인을 갖춘 종합편찬물로서, 고전적 정리사업의 전범으로 자리 잡을 수 있었던 데에는 해제와 색인이라는 공구서의 역할이 지대하였다. 기존 성과를 넘어서는 학술적인 공구서를 편찬하기 위해서는 첫째, 공구서 편찬에 대한 장기적인 마스터플랜을 세워야 하며, 충분한 편찬 기간이 필요하다. 둘째, 공구서의 중요성을 인식하고, 이에 대한 인력의 집중이 필요하다. 셋째, [한국문집총간]에 한정되어 있는 공구서의 범위를 확대해야 한다. 넷째, 고전번역교육원이 교육 과정에 있어서 공구서와 관련하여 현장 실무에 필요한 강좌의 개설이 요구된다.

영어초록

This paper intends to review the process, features and significance of the reference books published in Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics. Base the on the review, I proposed four opinions about future compilation of the reference books.
The Bibliographical Introduction for the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese was first planned in 1986. It describes the features and limitations of literary collections in the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese in order to have users an objective view, simultaneously acts as a guidebook of literary collections. The publication of the Bibliographical Introduction for the original collection was already completed, from volume 1 published in 1991 to volume 6, in six volumes. The Bibliographical Introduction for the sequel collection is planned to be published in five volumes from volume 7 to 11. As of 2011 volume 8 has been published.
The Index of the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese was, like the Bibliographical Introduction, first planned in 1986. It was designed for an effective search of various items of information contained in the individual collection of the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese, allowing a multilateral approach toward the original text. Since the first volume of the Index was published in 1993, its publication continued until volume 8 in 2004. Eight volumes of the Index cover 212 individual collections in volume 1 to 48 of the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese.
The Thesaurus of Classical Term was planned as a part of the Promotion Plan for Korean Studies supporting by Ministry of Education in 2005. Base on the terms from The Index of the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese and the index of translations published in ITKC, Efficiency of s searching the information in Korea Classic was improved by establishing the relationship among the terms of index such as synonym, related term, hypernym, hyponym. Linking the Thesaurus to comprehensive Korean classic database constructed by ITKC made more useful utilization of data.
The Title Index of the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese was designed for a systematic and efficient utilization of the Comprehensive Publication. To achieve the purpose, it was classified as the Title Index of Biographical Writings, the Title Index of Prefaces and Postscripts, the Title Index of Essays, the Title Index of Memorials to the Throne and the Title Index of Letters, and then extracted keywords were connected with the title of works of the individual collection. The Title Index of Biographical Writings was published in 3 volumes in 2009.
The Compendium of the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese was published in four languages, Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese, in 2010 as a basic guideline for the 663 collections contained in the Comprehensive Publication. It intends to introduce the richness and diversity of the Korean Literary Collections to not only internal and external researchers of Korean studies but also the general public.
The Bibliographical Introduction and the Index played a great role for the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese in becoming an successful model of compilation project for Korean classics. I proposed four opinions as follows to compile academic reference books that may surpass the Bibliographical Introduction and the Index. First, Long-term master plan for compilation of reference books should be established and sufficient time should be given in compiling. Second, With the recognition of the importance of reference books, labor integration is needed. Third, expanding the scope of reference books beyond the Comprehensive Publication of Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese is needed. Fourth, Lecture related to reference books should be established in curriculum of Education Center for the Translation of Korean Classics.
