신비에로의 발돋움 ― 가나안 신자를 위한 영성수련 (Spiritual Outreach for Mystery: Spiritual Practice for Canaan Believers)

초록

최근 가나안 신자의 뚜렷한 증가 현상은 한국교회의 목회와 영적 돌봄 사역에 근본적인 도전과 변화를 요구한다. 본 연구는 가나안 신자 현상을 영적 소외와 파편화 현상으로 이해하고, 경직되고 화석화된 신앙생활에 생명력을 불어넣기 위한 영적 돌봄 사역 모델의 이론적 체계를 구축하고자 시도한다. 기독교진리의 본래적 요소인 신비 혹은 신비로서 기독교 신앙을 체득하도록 안내할때, 가나안 신자들의 영적 필요와 갈망에 부응하는 영적 돌봄 사역을 제공할수 있다고 주장한다. 소고는 이를 위해 가나안 신자의 영성형성과 수련을 위한이론적 토대 구축을 시도한다. 첫째, ‘교회 내 가나안 신자’들에 주목하며, 그들의 종교적 가장(假裝, disguise) 현상과 영적 상황을 문화인류학적 기술을 통해파악하고 영적 갈망을 분석한다. 둘째, 가나안 신자들의 영적 갈망에 부응할수 있는 기독교 영성전통으로 무념적 영성을 탐색한다. 6세기 기독교 신비신학을 체계화한 위-디오니시우스(Psudo-Dionysius)의 무념적 영성 안에 내재된신비의 가치를 영적 경험과 성장의 대상으로 소개하여 영적 생명력을 회복할수 있는 가나안 신자를 위한 기독교 영성형성으로 소개한다. 셋째, 무념적 영성전통을 현대적으로 재구성한 기도수련인 향심기도를 실천한 가나안 신자의영적 여정을 기술하여 분석한다. 이를 통해 가나안 신자가 기독교 영성수련을통해 영적 생명력을 회복하고 교회 공동체로 돌아와 건강한 신앙생활을 이어갈지속 가능성을 제시한다. 본 연구는 한국교회의 영적 돌봄 대상으로서 인식된가나안 신자들의 영적 갈망에 부응하는 무념적 영성을 통해 영성형성의 기틀을제공하고, 향심기도를 통해 영적 체험으로 안내하는 기독교 영성학 연구를지향한다. 이를 통해 기독교 내 목회와 영적 돌봄 사역으로부터 소외되어, 영적파편화와 분리 속에 있는 가나안 신자들이 영적 생명력을 회복할 수 있는 기독교 영성형성의 토대를 제시하여 한국교회의 영적 돌봄 사역의 역량을 향상시키는학문적 담론을 제시하고자 한다.

영어초록

The recent phenomenon of a distinct increase of Canaan Believers calls for fundamental challenges and changes in the pastoral and spiri tual care ministries within the Korean church. This study attempts to understand the Canaan Believer phenomenon as spiritual alienation and fragmentation, and to build a theoretical framework for a spiritual care ministry model to revitalize a rigid and fossilized faith life. It ar gues that spiritual care ministries should respond properly to the spiri tual needs and longings of Canaan believers, when they are guided to experience the Christian faith as a mystery, an intrinsic element of Christian truth. To this end, this study attempts to build a theoretical foundation for the spiritual formation and practice of Canaan Believers.
First, it focuses on 'Canaans in the church' and analyzes their religious disguise and spiritual situation through cultural anthropological description to understand their spiritual longings. Second, it explores the Christian spiritual tradition of apophatic spirituality as a possible response to the spiritual longings of Canaans. It introduces the value of mystery inherent in the spirituality of Psudo-Dionysius, who systematized Christian mystical theology in the 6th century, as a Christian spiritual formation for Canaan believers that can restore spiritual vitality by introducing it as an object of spiritual experience and growth. Third, it describes and analyzes the spiritual journey of a Canaans who prac- ticed the Centering Prayer, a modern reconstruction of the tradition of apophatic spirituality. In doing so, it suggests a sustainable way for Canaans to restore their spiritual vitality through Christian spiritual practices and return to the church community to continue their holistic faith formation.
This study aims to provide a framework for spiritual formation through apophatic spirituality that responds to the spiritual longings of Canaan believers who are recognized as spiritual care objects of the Korean church, and guides them to spiritual experiences through Centering Prayer. In doing so, it pursues to provide a foundation for Christian spiritual formation that can restore the spiritual vitality of Canaan believers who are marginalized from Christian pastoral and spiritual care ministries and are in the midst of spiritual fragmentation and separation, and to present an academic discourse that enhances the capacity of the Korean church's spiritual care ministry.
