팬데믹 이후 대학 문학교육의 전환 (Transformation of University Literature Education after the Pandemic)

초록

이 연구는 팬데믹 이후 대학에서 진행되는 문학교육 현상을 기술하고, 디지털 전환에 따른 문학교육의 변화를 성찰하기 위해 기획되었다. 팬데믹을 거치며 가장 큰 변화는 ‘디지털 전환’이다. ‘디지털 전환’은 기존 지식을 전수 받던 학습자를 능동적이고 창조적인 행위자로, 지식을 보유하고 전달하던 교수자를 지식의 플랫폼이자 학생들의 조력자로 그 위상을 변화시킬 수 있는 계기가 된다는 점에서 그 의의가 부각된다.
이 연구에서는 범지구적 차원에서 미래 교육의 비전과 방향을 꾸준히 탐구하고 제안해 온 OECD가 제시한 ‘2030 학습 나침반’을 교육자에게 필요한 ‘교육 나침반’으로 삼아보려 하였다. 변혁적 역량에 속한 ‘새로운 가치 창출’, ‘긴장과 딜레마의 조정’, ‘책임감 가지기’ 등은 대학의 학습자들에게도 필요한 것들이기에 교육적 지침이 될 수 있다고 판단하였다.
연구자는 2023년도 2학기에 문학을 교육하는 두 수업을 담당하였다. 하나는 학부생을 대상으로 한 ‘고전문학과 콘텐츠’이며, 다른 하나는 대학원생을 대상으로 한 ‘고전서사와 콘텐츠’이다. 두 수업의 강좌명은 대동소이하지만 내용은 크게 다르다. 전자는 고전문학을 현대적으로 변용한 콘텐츠에 대한 이론과 디지털 콘텐츠 생산에 관한 것이요, 후자는 디지털 인문학의 전공 지식에 따라 고전문학을 디지털화하는 작업을 직접 수행하는 것이다.
수업 실행의 결과, 디지털 전환으로 인해 전반적으로 학생들의 행위주체성이 높아졌다고 평가할 수 있는데, 이와 정비례하여 교육자의 노고로움은 증대하였다. 그렇지만 이 현상을 학생들의 행위주체성뿐 아니라 교육자의 행위주체성이 높아진 것으로도 해석할 수 있다. 교수자나 학생이나 디지털 인문학 분야에서는 초심자이다. 전공 지식을 디지털 인문학과 결합시키기 위해서는 교수자 역시 새로 배워야 한다. 이 수업 경험을 통해 연구자는 학생들과 함께 수평적 관계에서 서로 배움을 나누며 함께 길을 찾아 가는 새로운 교수-학습자상을 갖게 되었다.

영어초록

The most significant change after the pandemic is the 'digital transformation.' This goes beyond the establishment of two-way online education and the use of digital media, transforming the status of students and educators. The education sector inevitably requires a more fundamental revolution because it needs to anticipate the experiences future generations will face, identify the necessary capabilities, and be responsible for designing and implementing educational practices for them.
This study attempted to consider the '2030 Learning Compass' presented by the OECD as a 'Education Compass' for educators. It was judged that the guidelines for education, including 'Creating New Values,' 'Balancing Between Growth and Dilemmas,' and 'Taking Responsibility,' which are transformative competencies, could be beneficial for university students.
I was in charge of two literature education classes in the second semester of 2023. One was 'Classical Literature and Contents' for undergraduate students, and the other was 'Classical Narratives and Contents' for graduate students. Although the course titles of the two classes were similar, their contents were significantly different. The former focused on theories related to transforming classical literature into contemporary contents and contents production, while the latter involved directly digitalizing classical literature based on expertise in digital humanities.
As a result of implementing the courses, it can be evaluated that overall, students' agency has increased due to digital transformation, along with a corresponding increase in the efforts of educators. However, this phenomenon can be interpreted not only as an increase in students' agency but also as an increase in educators' agency. In other words, educators also enhanced their agency by actively learning and mastering media and digital technologies while conducting these courses, finding their way through new learning experiences. Whether educators or students, both are beginners in the field of digital humanities. To combine disciplinary knowledge with digital humanities, educators also need to learn anew. Through this course experience, the researcher developed a new teacher-learner relationship, sharing learning with students in a horizontal relationship and finding a new teacher-learner model together.
