영화에 나타난 기녀 복식의 한국 복식미 수용과 재해석 (A Study on the Acceptance and Reinterpretation of the Aesthetics of Korean Costumes on the Kinyeo Costumes Appearing in the Cinemas)

초록

현대 한국영화 속 기녀는 다양한 캐릭터로 표현되고있으며 그들이 착용한 복식 또한 역사 고증을 통한 재현과 현대적 재해석으로 한국 전통 복식의 아름다움을알리는데 기여하고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 영화에 나타난 기녀 복식의 미적 특성 분석을 통해 역사극에서 전통 복식미의 수용과 재해석이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지를 파악하고자 하는데 있다. 연구방법은 문헌연구와 실증연구를 병행하였다. 문헌연구에서는 관련문헌을 중심으로 한국영화 속의 기녀, 한국복식의미적 특성을 고찰하였고, 실증연구에서는 2000년부터2017년까지 상영된 역사극 중 기녀가 주연과 조연으로등장한 15편의 영화에 나타난 기녀 복식을 대상으로미적 특성을 분석하고 기녀 복식에 나타난 복식미를도출하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 한국영화에 나타난 기녀 복식의 미적 특성은 전통미, 혁신미, 관능미, 상징미, 예의미, 긴장미, 자연미순으로 많이 나타났다. 2000년대 초반 한국영화에 나타난 기녀 복식은 전통미와 예의미가 강조된 반면, 2007년 <황진이>를 기점으로 전통미뿐만 아니라 관능미, 혁신미, 긴장미가 부각되었다. 그러나 이러한 경향은 2015년에 개봉된 한국영화들을 기점으로 변화되어전통미와 혁신미가 여전히 많이 나타나면서도 관능미와 긴장미 대신 예의미나 자연미가 강조되었다. 둘째, 영화에 나타난 기녀 복식의 한국 복식미는 파격적 관능미, 절제된 호사미, 섬세한 여성미, 일탈적 호사미, 절제된 격조미가 도출되었다. 이상의 연구 결과, 21세기 한국영화에 나타난 기녀 복식은 시대적 배경과 기녀 캐릭터를 토대로 극적 상황과 영화적 상상력을 반영한 다양한 디자인과 현대적인 소재, 색채, 문양, 서양복의 아이템까지도 활용되고 있으며, 이에 따라 미적 특성 또한 변화되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 한국복식 스타일에 관심이 있는 패션크리에이터들에게 많은 상상력과 영감을 제공하고 영상미디어관련 디자이너들에게 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는데의의가 있다.

영어초록

The Kinyeo, who appears through modern Korean cinemas, is expressed through various characters. The Kinyeo costumes have also contributed to the conveyance of the beauty of traditional Korean costumes by being reproduced and modernistic reinterpreted through historical hypertext. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the aesthetic characteristics of the Kinyeo costume s presented in the cinemas, and to understand how the acceptance and reinterpretation of the aesthetics of Korean costumes are portrayed in the cinemas. As for the research methods, this study conducted the literature review and empirical researches. Concerning the literature review, the Kinyeo appearing in the Korean cinemas, and the aesthetic characteristics of Korean costumes were derived through the review of previous studies. Moreover, as for the empirical study, aesthetic characteristics of the Kinyeo costumes presented in the 15 movies which the Kinyeo were starring and supporting actresses during the screened from 2000 to 2017 were analyzed. And then, the aesthetics of the Kinyeo costumes were found. The results of this study were as follows. First, the aesthetic characteristics of the Kinyeo costumes presented in the cinemas were in the order of traditional, innovative, voluptuous, symbol, courtesy, tension, and natural beauty. The Kinyeo costumes in the early 2000 Korean cinemas emphasized the meaning of traditional beauty.
On the other hand, beginning with <Hwang Jin-yi> in 2007, not only was there traditional beauty but also voluptuous, innovative and tension beauty were highlighted. However, this tendency has been changed in the Korean movies released since 2015. While the traditional and innovative beauty still appear, courtesy and natural beauty are emphasized instead of voluptuous and tension beauty. Second, the aesthetics of Korean costume of the Kinyeo costumes in the cinemas were derived from the unconventional voluptuous beauty, the regulated luxurious beauty, the delicate feminine beauty, the deviant luxurious beauty, and the moderated dignity beauty. In conclusion, based on the background of the time and the characters of the Kinyeo, the costumes of the Kinyeo presented in the 21st century Korean movies were utilized in various designs reflecting the dramatic situation and cinematic imagination, as well as modern materials, colors, patterns, and items of western clothing. It was found that the aesthetic characteristics were also changed accordingly. The result of this study is meaningful that it provides many imagination and inspiration to fashion creators who are interested in Korean costume style and can be used as basic data for designers related to visual media.
