초록

익산 거주 진주 소문은 蘇世讓의 文名을 통해 전국적인 명성을 얻게 된다. 소세양은 후대까지도 문장 능력과 풍류호사로 지역 사회에 많은 이야기를 만들어냈을 뿐 아니라 가문의 상징적 인물로서의 위상을 가진다. 소세양 이후 진주 소문은 蘇永福 – 蘇東道 – 蘇斗山 – 蘇凝天 – 蘇輝冕 등의 인물을 배출했다. 金長生, 宋時烈은 16세기~17세기 진주 소문의 학문 성향이나 정치적 입장 결정에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 김장생은 익산군수 재직 시기와 連山 낙향 시기에 지역 교화와 학풍 진작을 위해 노력했다. 송시열의 부친 宋甲祚는 소동도와 同榜 진사이며 송시열은 소두산과 師弟 관계였다. 仁穆大妃 폐모 논의가 활발하던 시기에 송갑조와 소동도는 결연히 낙향을 결심했으며, 소두산은 평생 송시열과 정치적 입장을 함께 했다. 진주 소문과 恩津 宋門은 여러 차례 혼인 관계를 맺기도 한다. 소휘면은 老論 洛論의 학통의 중심에 있던 梅山 洪直弼의 高弟이다. 매산 사후 그가 익산 지역에서 매산 문집 간행을 주도한 것은 지역 문화사와 관련하여 눈여겨 볼 부분이다. 진주 소문은 대체로 西人-老論 학맥의 범위 내에 있었는데, 이와 달리 少論系 학자들의 영향을 받으면서 학문세계를 구축하고 익산을 떠나 지리산 등에 은거했던 소응천에 대해서도 심도있는 접근이 요구된다.
조선 후기의 다단한 정치 상황에서 진주 소문의 인물들은 시기마다 정치적, 학문적으로 의미있는 역할을 했다. 목민관으로 善政을 베풀고, 直臣으로 강개한 논의를 마다하지 않았으며, 자유로운 삶의 방식을 통해 자신만의 학문세계를 구축했고, 당대를 대표하는 학자의 고제로서 사회현실의 개선을 학문 탐구와 교육을 통해 의도하는 등 다양한 모습을 보였다. 이 試論이 門中의 학문 전통에 대한 탐구로 이어지고, 익산 인문정신의 수확으로 귀결되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

The So family of Jinju(晉州) living in Iksan(益山) earned a nationwide reputation through the literary distinction of So Se-yang(蘇世讓), who not only created many stories for his creative abilities and taste for the arts among the later generations, but also held the status as a symbolic figure of his family. After him, the So family of Jinju produced So Yeong-bok(蘇永福), So Dong-do(蘇東道), So Du-san(蘇斗山), So Eung-cheon,(蘇凝天), So Hui-myeon(蘇輝冕), and so on. Kim Jang-saeng(金長生) and Song Si-yeol(宋時烈) had big influences on the academic tendencies or political position decisions of the So family of Jinju in the 16th and 17th century. Kim Jang-saeng made efforts for the local reformation and academic tradition enhancement while he served as the head of Iksan Gunsu and went back to the rural life in Yeonsan. Song Gap-jo, the father of Song Si-yeol, was a Jinsa that passed the state exam in the same year as So Dong-do. Song Si-yeol had a teacher-pupil relation with So Du-san. When there were active discussions about the idea of taking Inmok Daebi(仁穆大妃) down from her position, Song Gap-jo(宋甲祚) and So Dong-do decided to go back to the rural life. So Du-san shared the same political position as Song Si-yeol throughout his life. The So family of Jinju formed a marital relationship with the Song family of Eunjin(恩津) several times. So Hui-myeon was an outstanding pupil of Maesan(梅山) Hong Ji-pil(洪直弼) that was at the center of the Nakron(洛論) scholastic mantle in Noron(老論). After Hong passed away, he took the lead in the publication of Hong's collection of works in the Iksan area. It was his achievement that is noteworthy in relation to the history of local culture. The So family of Jinju was generally within the scope of Seoin(西人) and Noron academic genealogy. There is a need for an in-depth approach to So Eung-cheon that was under the influence of Soron(少論) unlike his family.
The figures of So family of Jinju played politically and academically meaningful roles during every period amid the eventful political situations in the second part of Joseon. The exhibited various aspects, governing well as a governor, hesitating no time to have righteous discussions as a faithful subject, building an academic world unique to their family in free lifestyles, and intending for the improvement of social reality through academic inquiries and education as a remarkable pupil of a scholar representing the times. This essay is expected to lead to an in-depth investigation into the academic tradition of the So family and result in the harvest of the traditional humanistic spirit in Iksan.
