초록

马来西亚华文教育通过自身发展已形成受众广泛、体系完整、教学与管理规范的格局，这一格局成为华文教育在马来西亚走向可持续发展的基石。但需要强调的是，华文教育能走到今天，离不开华人对民族语言文化的高度认同进而迸发的对华文教育的坚持和维护，离不开华教机构、华人社团、华人企业及华文媒体的实践活动对华文教育在组织、经费、宣传等方面的保障与支持。这构成了华文教育在马来西亚不断发展的思想和实践基础，也是华文教育继续前行的宝贵财富，需要继续传承下去。当前，华文教育面对新的时代问题和社会发展困境，更需要在传承传统资源的同时，不断开拓创新、与时俱进，解决问题、化解困境，从而开创马来西亚华文教育发展的新局面。本文以“马来西亚华文教育可持续发展的基础为何？”为探索的核心，就华人思想和华人实践与华文教育可持续发展之间的联系进行探析，希冀为华文教育未来的发展提供可参考的依据。

영어초록

Malaysia possesses a comprehensive system of Chinese education embracing the primary to the tertiary levels. This situation has come about through intense community efforts. Historically, through the hard work and a strong sense of community spirit, the Chinese have built up a widely- accepted and complete teaching and management framework to lay the groundwork for the healthy development of Chinese education in the country. This state of affairs is inseparable from the community emphasis on its culture and language and the persistent and cumulative efforts of Chinese educational organizations, clan associations, the business sector, the Chinese press and the community as a whole. Their actions have ensured the organizational, financial, and identity integrity of the Chinese education system. This traditional behaviour has become ingrained in the thinking and practice of the Chinese community and hence should be continued. In the context of current circumstances arising from changing conditions and issues of social development, it is even more urgent to consolidate traditional resources and values to promote innovations to keep abreast of the time, to overcome problems and dilemmas, and to open up opportunities. The study examines Chinese thinking on education and the manner of by which their ideas are put into practice and their relations with the concept of the sustainable development of Chinese education. The conclusion is intended to provide a basis of reference on the future development of Chinese education in Malaysia.
