초록

This is a study on the scarf design utilizing the tiger pattern as a motif in Korea folk painting. The purpose of this study is to develope and globalize the excellency of Korea traditional culture through the scarf design based on Korean traditional pattern. The study results are as follows.
The characteristics of Korean tiger in the folk painting are humorous and facetious rather than frightening and have educational significance. 4 kinds of scarf have been produced and they have been printed using the DTP(Digital Textile Printing). Each design concept and process are as follows.
Sample-1 : The design motif is "tiger and magpie". The style of scarf consists of 1/2 diagonal repeat methods and the pattern of one side is clear and the other is faint but the phrase, ‘까치와 호랑이’, has been written on it for balanced design.
Sample-2 : The design motif is the tiger face. The several shapes of tiger face have mixed up and arranged by a mosaic style and the edge of scarf has been decorated by the pattern of tiger fur.
Sample-3 : The design motif is the tiger fur. The stripe and dot patterns as a symbol of tiger have been arranged by a mosaic style and the edge has been decorated by a strip pattern in dark and light colors among tiger fur colors Sample-4 : The design motif is the tiger fur and face. Four same tiger faces have been arranged on tiger fur ground. The color is almost similar with the brown tone of tiger.
