오행묵의 『고성총쇄록』한시(漢詩)에 나타난 날씨의 정치생태학적 고찰 (A Study on the Political Ecology of Weather in the Chinese Poems Goseong Chongswaerok by O Heong-muk)

초록

동양의 전통사회에서 날씨는 인간의 인식과 행위, 자연환경, 농민의 삶, 국가(왕조) 정치와 긴밀하게 연관시켜 이해하였다. 이에 비해 서구의 근대 과학에 토대한 이성주의는 인간과 자연의 관계를 이원론 혹은 환원론으로 이해하고, 양자의 관계를 주체와 객체 혹은 행위자와 물리적 환경으로 분리시켰다. 이러한 인식에 토대한 근대화, 산업화, 도시화는 현대 사회의 다양한 환경문제를 발생시키고 있다. 본 연구는 자연의 불균형성과 예측불가능성에 근거한 신생태학(new ecology) 그리고 자연과 사회․정치의 상호관계에 근거한 정치생태학(political ecology) 관점으로 오횡묵의『고성총쇄록』에 수록된 한시의 날씨를 고찰하였다. 연구결과는 세가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 한시에 나타난 날씨는 단순한 양식과 복잡하고 변화하는 양식으로 표현되어 있으며, 또한 생물, 경관, 정서와 상호 작용하는 관점으로 이해하고 있다. 둘째, 한시는 날씨를 농민의 일상적 삶, 아전의 횡포 등과 연관시켜 고찰하고 있다. 셋째, 전근대 사회에서 국가는 농민의 세금에 절대적으로 의존하고 있기 때문에 날씨와 국가 정치의 관계는 긴밀하게 연관될 수밖에 없다. 『고성총쇄록』에 포함된 한시에 나타난 날씨에 대한 이해는 현대의 다양한 환경문제를 해결하는데 직접적으로 이용할 수 없다. 그러나 한시의 날씨 이해는 현대 환경문제의 해결 방안들에 대한 가치 혹은 관점을 전환시키는데 도움을 줄 것이다.

영어초록

Weather in a traditional society was understood as an interrelation among human’s emotion, natural environments, farmer’s life and dynasty as a nation. On the contrary, modern science and reason developed with a Western society and culture understood a relation between human being and nature as dualism, determinism and reductionism, and they also divided human being and nature as subject and object, agent and environment and so on. Industrialization and urbanization rapidly advanced under such a perspective are making a variety of environmental problems in modern society. This study is to investigate weather in the Chinese poems included in a book, Goseong Chongswaerok by O Heong-muk through a guide of new ecology and political ecology.
The results of the study on weather in the Chinese poems are summarized in the followings. Firstly, weather in the Chinese poems is expressed as a simple or changing form like rain or sunny after raining. It is also understood as an interrelation among living things, natural environments, landscape and emotion.
Secondly, weather in the Chinese poems is investigated in an interrelation between farmer’s activity and life and lower officer‘s exploitation. Thirdly, a nation in a premodern society ought to be absolutely depended on a tax from farmers, and it was necessary for weather and a national politics to be closely connected. The nation implements famine-relived policy(賑恤政策) of helping farmer’s deteriorated living due to the largely decreasing agricultural products caused by drought.
Understanding weather in the Chinese poems can not be directly applied to the environmental problems of modern industrial and urbanized society. So an interrelational perspective applied to modern environmental problems should be adjusted to the historical context of industrialization, information and communication technology and urbanization.
