‘처용’이라는 화두와 ‘벽사(辟邪)’의 언어 －김춘수의 무의미시론에 대한 새로운 해독－ (‘Che-yong’, As A Topic And The Language of ‘Exorcism’ －A New Interpretation on Insignificant Poetics of Kim Choonsoo－)

초록

본 논문은 50~60년대 ‘전통’에 대한 국문학계의 관심을 배경으로 하고 있는 김춘수의 ≪처용단장≫과 무의미시론에 대한 불교적 해독을 통해 일반적으로 반전통의 시각에서 연구되어온 김춘수 시의 전통적인 측면을 검토해보았다. 일반적으로 연구자들은 그의 시와 시론을 서정시의 규범을 깨뜨리는 반전통의 시각에서 이해하고 있지만, ≪처용단장≫을 읽어내는 데는, 50년대의 전통에 대한 관심에서 촉발된 ‘처용’ 계보의 작품들, 그리고 고려가요 <처용가>와의 미학적 연관성이 반드시 고려되어야 한다.
김춘수는 이미 50년대부터 ‘처용’연작을 구상하였고, 60년대부터 1991년까지 ≪처용단장≫ 연작을 창작하는 과정에서 그가 ‘인고행의 보살’로 해독했던 ‘처용’을 화두로 붙들고 고려가요 <처용가>를 깊이 있게 탐구했다.≪처용단장≫으로 집대성된 그의 무의미시론을 세밀하게 검토해보면, 그의 시적 실험이 지향하는 세계관이나 언술방식에, 현실의 논리를 허무로 되돌리는 불교적 무상관(無常觀)과 고려가요 <처용가>에 나타난 벽사(辟邪)의 언어에 대한 이해가 깊이 담겨 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

영어초록

In the thesis, ≪Che-yong-dan-jang≫written by Kim Choonsoo on the background of 1950s~1960s of Korean literature circle with interest for ‘tradition’ and the traditional aspect of his poetry that has been researched generally from the anti-traditional angle through Buddhistic interpretation on the meaningless poetics were reviewed.
Largely, those who study his poems and poetics comprehend them from the anti-traditional point of view that breaks the norm of lyrical verses, however, in order to have ≪Che-yong-dan-jang≫ be appreciated, it is essential that the serial works of ‘Cheyong’ prompted by the concern toward the tradition of modern poets and the aesthetic corelations coming from the <Che-yong-ga>, one of Koryo folk songs should be considered.
Kim Choonsoo planned to write the serial works of ‘Cheyong’ from as early as 1950s, and in the course of creating the series of ≪Che-yong-dan-jang≫ from 1960s to 1991, he dived into the profound study of <Che-yong-ga>, a Koryo folk song, grasping ‘Cheyong’ for the subject that he interpreted as ‘bodhisattva of long-suffering’Going through his theory of insignificant poetics minutely that was completed into his comprehensive work can be confirmed to lead to the fact that the Buddhistic transience that turns the true-life logic into nothingness and the deeper comprehension on the language of exorcism revealed in the <Che-yong-ga>, a Koryo folk song, is harbored in his outlook of this world and in the way of narration. The Buddhistic speculations that Kim Choonsoo detected through the <Che-yong-ga> suggests that the ‘conventional tradition’ forms a crucial foundation in trying to have the modernity and experimental feature of his poems to be properly appreciated.
