초록

본 연구에서 살펴본 계명대학교 행소박물관 소장 《구운몽도10폭병풍》는 선행연구에서 거의 다루어지지 않았던 작품이다. 화면 상단에는 각 폭 장면과 관련된 화제(畫題)가 있다. 또한 작자의 호(號)와 인장(印章), 그리고 제작 시기로 추정되는 기년명(紀年銘)이 적혀 있다.
각 폭은 〈돌다리〉, 〈풍도지옥〉, 〈진채봉〉, 〈계섬월〉, 〈정경패〉, 〈가춘운〉, 〈난양공주〉, 〈심요연〉, 〈낙유원〉, 〈각몽〉의 내용을 시각화했다. 계명대본 《구운몽도10폭병풍》의 화면구성과 내용을 살핀 결과, 조선민화본과 2006년 옥션 출품작 《구운몽도8폭병풍》과 동일한 도상을 공유하고 있음을 파악하였다.
계명대본은 화제가 상당히 흥미로운 내용을 담고 있었다. 화제는 화면에 그려진 소설 내용뿐만 아니라 화면에 담지 못한 또다른 이야기, 시각화된 장면 이후에 전개될 이야기를 예시하여 적었다. 이런 내용의 화제는 다른 《구운몽도》에는 보이지 않는 특이점이었다. 이는 작자가 소설을 얼마나 잘 알고, 그림으로 그렸는지 짐작해 볼 수 있게 한다. 작자는 화제를 통해 상상력을 자극하여, 감상자가 화면 속 장면에서 화제 속의 장면까지 생각하도록 했다. 《구운몽도10폭병풍》의 작자와 감상자는 필시 『구운몽』의 애독자일 것이다.
마지막 폭의 관지는 제작 시기와 제작 기간, 그리고 작가에 대한 정보를 담고 있었다. 우선 기년명 “무진년(戊辰年)”은 현재까지의 《구운몽도》 제작 시기로 미루어 1868년 또는 1928년으로 좁혀볼 수있었다. “계동상한(季冬上澣)”은 음력 12월 초하루에서 초열흘을 의미하고, 이는 작품의 제작 기간이 음력 12월 1일부터 10일까지 열흘 동안이었음을 알아냈다. 호가 의천(義川)인 작가는 성이 최씨인 것만 확인했다. 작가는 자신을 화림산인(花林散人)으로 적고 있었는데, “화림”은 경상남도 안음의 옛 이름이다. 즉 작가는 안음에 살았던 최씨 성의 인물로, 의천 또는 화림산인으로 불렸음을 밝힐 수 있었다.
이러한 기록과 함께 작품의 표현 특징 등을 살펴본 결과 계명대본 《구운몽도10폭병풍》은 19세기 중반인 1868년, 음력 12월 초하루부터 초열흘의 10일 동안 ‘의천’이라는 호를 쓰는 작가가 그렸을 것으로 추정하였다.

영어초록

The director of the Hengso Museum at Keimyung University, 《10 folding screens of Nine Cloud Dreams》 which was examined in this study, is a work that was rarely covered in previous studies. At the top of the screen is a topic(畫題) related to each width scene. In addition, the author's pen name(號), seal(印章), and the age name(紀年銘) estimated to be the time of production are written.
Each width visualized the contents of “Stone Bridge”, “Pungdo Hell”, “Jinchaebong”, “Gyeseomwol”, “Jeong Gyeong-pae”, “Gachunun”, “Princess Nanyang”, “Shim Yo-yeon”, “Nak Yu-won” and “gagmong”. As a result of examining the screen composition and contents of the Keimyung script 《10 Folding Screens of Nine Clouds and Dreams》, we found that it shares the same iconography with the Joseon folk painting and the 2006 auction entry, 《8 Folding Screens of Nine Clouds and Dreams》.
The Keimyung script contained quite interesting topics. The topic was written not only as a novel content depicted on the screen, but also as an example of another story that could not be captured on the screen and a story that will unfold after the visualized scene. The topic of this content was a unique feature not seen in other 《Nine Cloud Dreams(Guunmongdo)》. This allows us to guess how well the author knows the novel and how well he drew it. This allows us to guess how well the author knows the novel and how well he drew it. The author stimulated the imagination through topics, making the viewer think from the scene on the screen to the scene in the topic. The author and appreciator of 《10 folding screens of Nine Cloud Dreams》 are most likely avid readers of 『Guunmong』.
The last publication contained information on the production period, the production period, and the artist. First of all, the name “mujinnyeon(戊辰年)” could be narrowed down to 1868 or 1928 from the time of production of “Guunmongdo” until now. “Gye-dong Sang-han (季冬上澣)” means production when the first day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar is the first day of the month, and the period of life that represents this exists for 10 days from the 1st to the 10th of the 12th month of the lunar calendar. The author, whose pen name is Uicheon(義川), only confirmed that his surname was Choi. The author wrote himself as Hwarimsan-in (花林散人), and “Hwarim(花林)” is the old name of Aneum, Gyeongsangnam-do. In other words, it was revealed that the author was a person of the Choi clan who lived in Aneum and was called Uicheon or Hwarimsan.
As a result of examining the expressive characteristics of the work along with these records, it is presumed that the Keimyung script 《10 folding screens of Nine Cloud Dreams》 was painted by an artist with the pen name ‘Uicheon’ during the 10 days from the first day to the first ten days of December in the lunar calendar in 1868, in the mid-19th century.
