積石木槨墓의 구조에 대한 비판적 검토 (A critical review on the structure of the wooden chamber tomb with stone mound.)

초록

삼국시대 경주의 대표 묘제인 적석목곽묘는 그 기원을 둘러싸고 자생설과 외래기원설이 있다. 최근에는 자생설을 주장하는 연구자들을 중심으로 소위 ‘사방식 적석목곽묘’라는 새로운 개념이 적용되고, 경주식목곽묘에서 사방식 적석목곽묘를 거쳐 자연스레 적석목곽묘로 발전하였다는 도식이 제시되고 있다. 아울러 개념이 확장됨에 따라 적석목곽묘는 영남 각지에서 확인되며, 이는 신라세력의 확산으로 이해되고도 있다.
본고는 경주식목곽묘 중에서 적석목곽묘 성립의 선행요소로 파악된 묘광의 형태, 二重槨과 석단시설, 적석과 봉분에 대하여 비판적으로 검토하고 서로 직접 관련이 없음을 지적한다. 상부적석이 없는 사방식 적석목곽묘는 목곽묘에 다름 아니다.
적석목곽묘 역시 목곽묘의 범주에 포함되는 것이기는 하나, 경주에 독특한 묘제로서 다른 지역의 목곽묘와 뚜렷이 구별되는 요소가 있다. 그것을 갖춘 무덤이 적석목곽묘이며, 그 중 가장 두드러진 요소가 上部積石과 護石이다. 이것들은 황남동109호 3ㆍ4곽과 같이 종래 최초의 적석목곽묘로 불렸던 무덤에서부터 채용된다. 이들 요소는 무덤의 지상화를 지향하는 새로운 봉토축성법의 채용에 따른 것이다.
새로운 봉토축성법은 호석과 함께 지상에 축조되는 1차 봉토와 깊은 관련이 있으며, 그 수순의 복원을 시도하였다. 아울러 대형분에 속하는 황남대총남분 등도 동일한 공정을 거쳤음을 설명하였다.
나아가 이러한 요소를 갖춘 적석목곽묘의 성립을 경주의 독자적인 것으로 보는 자생설을 취한다. 다만 선행 묘제에서의 계기적인 발전으로는 보지 않고 일시에 이루어진 것으로 파악하며, 그 배경에는 고구려로부터의 많은 발상과 동기부여를 간접적으로 받았을 것으로 추정하였다.

영어초록

There are autogenesis and the theory of foreign origin over the beginning of the wooden chamber tomb with stone mound that is the major burial style of Gyeong-ju in Three Kingdom period. Lately a new notion which is so-called 'wooden chamber tomb lined with stones' has been applied with researchers who support autogenesis as the central figure, and a diagram that it was naturally developed from Gyeong-ju type wooden chamber tomb via wooden chamber tomb lined with stones has been presented as well. With the extension of the meaning, the wooden chamber tomb with stone mound has checked all parts of Young-nam area, and it is also understood as the expansion of Silla.
In this paper, I examined there is no direct relation after critically reviewing the form of the burial pit, double chamber, stone platform, stone mound and mound of Gyeong-ju type wooden chamber tomb which have regarded as the preceding factors of the wooden chamber tomb with stone mound. There is no difference between the wooden chamber tomb lined with stones without upper stone layer and the wooden chamber tomb.
Even though the wooden chamber tomb with stone mound falls under the category of the wooden chamber tomb, there are significantly distinguished factors which differ from that of the other area as the unique burial style of Gyeong-ju. It is the wooden chamber tomb with stone mound that contains those factors; the most remarkable factors are upper stone layer and stone slabs. They are introduced into the tomb which has been called 'the first wooden chamber tomb with stone mound' such as 3 ․ 4 outer coffin, No.109, Hwangnam-dong so far. These factors are followed by a new mound construction technique with the aim of the conversion to the ground of the tomb.
The new mound construction technique is closely related to the primary mound constructed on the ground with stone slabs. I attempted to do a restoration of the process. In addition, I explained that Hwangnam Daechong belongs to a large tomb also has the same process with them.
Moreover, I take autogenesis that emergence of the wooden chamber tomb with stone mound which has those factors happened independently in Gyeong-ju. I only comprehend that it did not developed consecutively from preceding burial style but it happened simultaneously, and assume that they got the most motivations and concepts indirectly from Goguryeo.
