전남 동남부지역 지석묘사회 변천과정 (Dolmen Social Transition in southeastern area of Jeonnam)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 전남 동남부지역에 분포해 있는 지석묘 연구를 통해 청동기시대 대표 묘제인 지석묘사회의 변천과정을 파악해 보고자 함이다. 공간상으로는 여수반도와 여수와 접해있는 순천 연안지역, 광양지역으로 한정하였으며, 연구진행은 지석묘의 군집·입지를 분석을 통해 규모와 분포에 대한 의미를 부여하려 하였다. 출토유물의 경우 유물간의 공반관계, 부장위치를 통해 부장의미를 파악하려 하였다. 더불어 절대연대를 기준으로 한 지석묘의 변천과 연대를 파악하려 하였다.
그 결과 전남 동남부지역의 지석묘 사회는 다음과 같이 변천된다고 말할 수 있다. Ⅰ기는 지석묘가 처음 축조되는 시기로 지석묘 문화 형성기에 해당된다. 지석묘는 단장형의 묘역시설을 하고 있으며, 군집내중심적 위치에 자리 잡고 있다. 출토유물로는 동검과 마제석검류, 옥류 등 위신제가 많으며, 이 점으로 보아 인근주변에서 중심적인 역할을 했던 집단으로 판단된다. 더불어 지속적으로 영향력을 행사해 왔다고말할 수 있다.
Ⅱ기는 지석묘가 활발하게 축조되는 시기로 지석묘 문화 성행기에 해당된다. 군집의 경우가 다양해지며, 묘역시설을 갖춘 지석묘가 다수를 점한다. 묘역시설은 장방형과 원형이 주로 축조되며, 형태는 Ⅰ기에비해 정교하지 못하다. 출토유물은 마제석검과 석촉류가 많아진다. 지석묘 주변으로 송국리식 주거지가다수 확인되며, 이는 임시 주거지로 판단된다.
Ⅲ기에서 지석묘 문화 쇠퇴기이다. 묘역시설은 그 전까지 나타나지 않은 집장형 지석묘군이 존재한다.
출토유물은 마제석검으로 심부와 병두부의 차이는 크며, 심부와 병부의 차이가 모호한 것들이 대부분이다. 마제석촉의 경우 무경식편평촉이 확인되는데, 전남 동남부지역에서 지석묘가 주된 묘제로서 오랜 기간 사용되었음을 판단할 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to trace the changing process of the dolmen society with the dolmen being the representative type of tomb during the Bronze Age by looking into the dolmens scattered around the southeastern areas of Jeonnam Province. The areas covered in the study were the Yeosu Peninsula, the coast of Suncheon adjacent to Yeosu, and Gwangyang.
The clusters and locations of dolmens were analyzed to grant significance to their size and distribution. The artifacts excavated in the dolmens were examined in their association relations and burial positions to understand their burial significance. Furthermore, the changes and eras of dolmens were investigated according to the absolute age.
The findings show the dolmen society in the southeastern areas of Jeonnam went through the following changes: Period I when the first dolmens were built fell in the formation period of dolmen culture. Dolmens were equipped with single-burial tomb facilities, holding a central position in the cluster. Many of artifacts excavated in the dolmens were Wishinjes including bronze daggers, polished stone daggers, and jades, which indicates that the builders of dolmens must have played pivotal roles in the surrounding areas and exercised their influences in a continuous manner.
Period II witnessed the active construction of dolmens, falling in the prevalence period of dolmen culture. As the clusters became diverse, the dolmens equipped with tomb facilities took a dominant position in the number. The major tomb facilities were rectangular or circular with the forms lagging behind their counterparts from Period I in terms of sophistication. There were many more polished stone daggers and polished stone arrowheads among the artifacts excavated in the dolmens. A good number of Songgukri-style dwelling sites were found around the dolmens as temporary ones.
Period III saw the fall of dolmen culture. The new Jipjang-style dolmens began to emerge among the tomb facilities. Excavated in the dolmens, the polished stone daggers mostly had big differences between the Shimbu and Byeongdubu and ambiguous differences between the Shimbu and Byeongbu. There were flattened arrowheads with no tang among the polished stone arrowheads, which suggests that the dolmen was used as a major type of tomb in the southeastern areas of Jeonnam for many years.
