「扶餘隆 墓誌銘」 관련 연구성과 검토 (A Study on the Research Results Related to the ‘Epitaph of Buyeo Yung(扶餘隆 墓誌銘)’)

초록

「扶餘隆 墓誌銘」은 현전하는 唐代 百濟系 인사의 墓誌銘들 중 가장 이른 시기에 출토되었으며, 그들 중 가장 높은 신분의 인물을 주인공으로 두고 있다. 주인공 부여융은 백제 멸망 이전에는 太子로 활동하였고 멸망 이후에는 熊津都督府를 담당하는 등, 7세기 백제 지역 정세 변화의 한복판에 놓여있었던 인물이다. 하지만 이러한 묘지명의 특성과 그 주인공의 역사적 비중에도 불구하고, 묘지명에 대한 연구는 활발하게 진행되지 못하였다.
「부여융 묘지명」에 대한 관심은 해당 묘지명이 발견된 식민지 시기와 중국 대륙 소재 묘지명 관련 정보들의 유입이 재개된 1990년대에 상대적으로 높았다. 그리고 두 시기 사이에는 국내외 정세와 연구 여건의 문제로, 1990년대 이후에는 새로운 묘지명의 등장으로 인해 해당 묘지명이 주목받기 어려웠다. 그와 같은 상황에서 기존 문헌 사료들과 비교해 부실한 부분이 많은 묘지명의 주인공 관련 정보들은, 해당 묘지명에 집중하는 연구가 활성화되지 못하는 하나의 요인으로 작용하였다.
그러나 「부여융 묘지명」 안에는 기존 문헌 사료에는 없거나 그와 대조하여 분석할만한 주인공 관련 정보들 또한 적게나마 존재하여 연구에 활용되고 있다. 더하여 주인공의 성격으로 인해, 7세기 백제의 국내외 정세 변화와 백제부흥운동 및 웅진도독부, 백제 유민들의 동향 등에 관한 연구들에서 해당 묘지명이 인용되는 경우를 발견할 수 있다. 아울러 상징적인 단어로 표현된 出自 의식 등 묘지명 구절에 반영된 관념을 파악하려는 시도도 등장하였다. 특히 관념 관련 연구는 묘지명 작성 당시의 상황과 다른 묘지명들의 서술 양상에 대한 분석 등을 통해 연구 영역의 확장이 가능하기에 앞으로의 성과가 기대된다고 하겠다.
「부여융 묘지명」은 그 판독문과 탁본, 역주가 여러 차례 배포되었기에, 이제는 관련 연구가 보다 발전하는 계기를 충분히 마련해주는 작업이 무엇보다도 요청된다. 이 작업에 조금이나마 보탬이 되고자, 본 논문에서는 해당 묘지명 분석에 중점을 둔 연구 외에도 그 일부를 활용한 연구 성과까지 관련 연구로 포함하여 소개하였다. 더불어 기존 문헌 사료들만을 가지고 부여융의 행적을 다루었던 연구 성과들은 최대한 언급하지 않음으로써, 해당 묘지명의 사료적 가치를 부각시켜 보고자 하였다.

영어초록

The “Epitaph of Buyeo Yung(扶餘隆 墓誌銘)” was excavated at the earliest time among the existing epitaphs of Baekje people who had lived during the Tang(唐) Dynasty, and its hero was from the highest level amongst all of them. The hero of the epitaph, Buyeo Yung(扶餘隆), was the crown prince before the fall of Baekje(百濟) Dynasty, and after the fall, he took up roles such as head of the Woongjin provincial government(熊津都督府), So he was a person in the center of the rapidly changing political situations of the 7th century Baekje(百濟) region. However, despite the characteristics of the epitaph and the historical significance of the hero, there have not been much of active researches pursued on this epitaph.
The interest in the “Epitaph of Buyeo Yung(扶餘隆 墓誌銘)” was relatively high in the Japanese colonial period during which the epitaph was found and the 1990s when the influx of the information related to epitaphs in Mainland China resumed. And between the two periods, due to the problems of domestic and international circumstances and research conditions, and also because of the appearance of new epitaphs after the 1990s, this particular epitaph has not been much noticed. In such a situation, the information related to the hero of the epitaph, which has a lot of missing parts compared to the existing historical records, served as a factor that the researches focusing on epitaphs have not been activated.
However, there exists at least a little information about the hero in the “Epitaph of Buyeo Yung(扶餘隆 墓誌銘)” which cannot be found in the existing historical records, and as it could be analyzed in comparison to the existing historical records, it has been used in certain studies. In addition, due to the character of the hero, it can be found that the epitaph is cited in studies on various subjects such as the change of Baekje`s domestic and foreign political climates in the 7th century, the movement of Baekje revival, the Woongjin provincial government(熊津都督府) and the situation of Baekje refugees. In addition, attempts have been made to grasp the ideas reflected in the passages of the epitaph such as the thinking about origin expressed in symbolic words. Especially, it is expected that the studies related to the ideas can expand the scope of research by analyzing the situation of the time the epitaph was written and the description of other epitaphs.
Since the decoded texts, rubbed copies and translations with notes of the “Epitaph of Buyeo Yung(扶餘隆 墓誌銘)” have been distributed several times, it is now required that the related researches is provided with sufficient opportunities for further progress. In order to contribute to that work a little, this paper introduces the studies focusing on the analysis of the epitaph together with the research results which used parts of this epitaph. In addition, this study ascertains to highlight the historical value of this epitaph by paying attention not to mention the research results on the deeds of Buyeo Yung(扶餘隆) which were obtained only from the existing historical records.
