불교철학의 비존재와 비인식의 관계__『니야야빈두』 「위자비량」과 다르못타라의 주석을 중심으로__ (The Relatedness between abhāva and anupalabdhi in Svārthānumānaparicchedaḥ of Nyāyabindu and Dharmottara’s ṭīkā)

초록

다르마키르티의 비인식(anupalabdhi)을 『니야야빈두』 제2장 「爲自比量」을 중심으로 고찰한다. 여기서의 비인식이란 디그나가의 ‘증인의 삼상’을 갖춘 바른 증인의 하나로 취급되는 개념이다. 즉 비인식은 이유 명제의 능증으로서 주장 명제의 소증(=비존재)과 불가분리의 수반관계를 가진다. 따라서 비존재와 비인식이란 본질적으로 어떤 것에 대한 두 가지 다른 표현에 불과하다.
Ⅱ에서는 본고의 주제의 이해를 위한 기반 이론으로서 ‘존재와 인식’에 관한 불교적 관점을 ‘법(dharma)과 유법(dharmin)’ ‘존재(bhāva)와 자성(svabhāva)’ 등의 관계 속에서 조명한다. Ⅲ에서는 다르마키르티의 증인의 삼상의 특징과 세 종류의 증인, 증상과 증상보유자의 관계를 ‘결과의 증인’과 ‘자성의 증인’으로 나누어서 고찰하는 것에 의해서 능증과 소증의 관계를 분명히 한다. Ⅳ에서는 비존재와 비인식을 NBṬ 2.13을 중심으로 고찰한다. Ⅴ에서는 NB 2.32-42까지의 비인식의 용례(=논증식)들을 분석하고, 비존재와 비인식의 관계를 종합 검토한다.
본고는 불교논리학이 비존재를 추리의 일종으로 분류하는 이유를 비인식의 능증을 통해서 명확히 하고자 한다. 또한 불교논리학에 있어 ‘자성의 증인(svabhāvahetu)’에 의한 능증과 소증의 ‘동일성(tādātmya)’의 논리가 불교인식론에 있어 ‘자기인식(svasamvitti)’에 상당할 수 있기에 두 개념의 통섭적 연구에 대한 필요성을 제시한다.

영어초록

This paper studies on anupalabdhi. It is the conception to be treated as a kind of three hetu-s(trairūpya) asserted by Dharmakīrti. Anupalabdhi is sādhana as well in the hetu premise and it is in the avinābhāva relatedness with abhāva that is sādhya in the pakṣa premise. Therefore. anupalabdhi and abhāva do not apply separately to the different things, but both of all reflect the being supported by two expressions as following each role in the syllogism completed by Dignāga.
Firstly, the basic theories about the relatedness bhāva and upalabdhi are explained from the view of Buddhist epistemology and logic in the chapter two of the paper, considering the key words such as dharma and dharmin, bhāva and svabhāva as introduction for abhāva and anupalabdhi.
The main purpose of the part three in the research is to confirm the characteristic of Dharmakīrti’s logic about trairūpya, trividham and the relation between sādhana and sādhya. Especially how svabhāvahetu is more essential than kāryahetu, pointing out the cross spot between the conception of bhāva and of svabhāva as each role of sādhya and sādhana.
In the chapter four, the topics are unfolded about abhāva, anupalabudhi, and their relatedness in the syllogism. On the other hand, NB 2.13 and Dharmottara’s ṭīkā are contemplated. They explain well about how anupalabdhi(noncognition) is possible to experience directly(dṛśya) against the nonexistence(abhāva). In the chapter five, the eleven types of anupalabdhi-s described from NB 2.32 to 2.42 are analyzed by the five fields: sādhana, shādhya, tadutpatti or tādātmya, applying in each sūtra, and sūtra no.
The paper may tell the reason specifically that Dharmakīrti makes anupalabdhi to be under anumāna, in contrast that it is classified as the independent means of cognition(pramāṇa) by one of his debate partners, Kumārila. Moreover, the logic of tādātmya by svabhāvahetu in Buddhist inference(anumāna) theory may have the location as same as the conception of self-awareness(svasamvitti) in Buddhist perception(pratyakṣa) theory(epistemology). If so, the advanced research in terms of how tādātmya can be connected with svasamvitti would be repaid.
