본 논문은 『‘재일조선인 문학사’를 위하여: 소리 없는 목소리의 폴리포니』에 대한 서평이다. 이 책은 재일조선인 문학사를 ‘여성’의 글쓰기 행위에서 시작한다는 점, 일본어뿐 아니라 조선어로 창작된 재일조선인 문학을 포괄하고 있다는 점, 재일조선인 문학이 국민국가 문학(한국문학, 일본문학)의 일부로 포섭되거나 소비되는 것에 비판적이라는 점에서, 기존의 문학사를 해체적으로 재구성하는 힘이 있다.
본 논문은 이 책이 기존의 문학 및 문학사 연구에 어떤 생산적인 파열음을 낼 수 있을까를 중심으로 세 가지 질문을 던진다. 첫째로, 재일조선인 문학이 다른 마이너리티 문학과 어떤 관계를 맺을 수 있을까? 둘째로, 여성의 글쓰기(증언, 구술, 일기 등)를 포괄한 문학사 서술 방식이 현재 한국 및 세계문학이 여성의 증언과 구술을 문학과 여러 방식으로 관련시키는 상황에 어떤 자극을 줄 수 있을까? 셋째로, 이 책의 테마는 계속되는 식민주의와 아시아의 뜨거운 냉전을 한 몸으로 경험하고 품고 있는 존재들을 부각시키는데, 이러한 방식이 어떠한 탈식민주의적 지향을 새롭게 드러나게 할 수 있을까? 본 논문은 이 세 가지 문제의식을 축으로 『‘재일조선인 문학사’를 위하여』 를 비평함으로써 재일조선인 문학의 내적 특질을 기반으로 문학이 혁명이 될 수 있는 조건을 분석하고 재일조선인 문학의 현재적 의미를 명확히 했다.

영어초록

This is a review article on A Literary History of Zainichi Koreans: Revealing the Polyphony of Silent Voices written by Song, Hyewon. The book was translated by Song Heyeon herself and published by Somyeong Publishing Company in 2019. Her narrative style in A Literary History of Zainichi Koreans deviates from the conventional ways; rather, it displays the power of creative deconstruction in the following three respects.
First, it begins the literary history of Zainichi with the writings of women who had no chances and no rights to learn how to express themselves. Secondly, it ranges over the Zainichi literary works written in Japanese as well as in Korean. Thirdly, the Zainichi literary works have been traditionally classified into the categories literature written in the colonized period or in the nation-state period (that is, Korean literature and Japanese literature.), and consumed under these categories. In A Literary History of Zainichi Koreans, this conventional categorization is reexamined and reevaluated afresh, which, finally, makes a creative suggestion for the new way of writing the literary history.
This book carries out the creative deconstruction of the traditional studies on literature and its history. In the light of its ingenious perspectives, this paper delves into the arguments developed in the book, keeping in mind the three questions below: First, how can the Zainichi literary works be connected with those of other minority groups in writing literary history? Secondly, the new narrative style in the book embraces writings of women (i.e. their testimonies, diaries, oral descriptions and the like) and its inspiring arguments will, it is believed, give a fresh impact to the world literature. In this respect, we have a question as follows: What stimulus do the Zainichi women’s writings provide to Korean literary world and／or World literature and to what extent? Thirdly, the main argument in A Literary History of Zainichi Koreans brings forth the experiences of the beings who suffered in the colonial and／or the hot cold war period. Can the foregrounding of these sufferers and their experiences make afresh the directional nature of decolonization and suggest a new route in its orientation? Based on these three issues in mind, this paper looks into the arguments in A Literary History of Zainichi Koreans, and analyzes the revolutionary conditions inspired in literary works by addressing the inherent characteristics of Zainichi literature and their comtemporary contribution to the literary world.
