한국 동남방언과 일본 이즈모 지역 인근 방언의 억양에 대한 대조 연구 (The Comparative Study on Intonation Systems between the East-South Dialect in Korean and Neighboring Izumo Dialects in Japanese)

초록

이 연구는 한국의 동남방언과, 일본의 이즈모[出雲] 지역을 중심으로 한 이즈모방언과 인접한 돗토리(取鳥)현의 아오야[靑谷]방언, 그리고 이즈모지역과 가까운 섬인 오키[隱岐]방언과의 관련성을 살펴본 것이다. 한국의 동남방언과 이즈모방언과의 억양적 유사성은 이미 확인되었는데, 아오야방언에서도 한국의 동남방언과의 억양적 유사성을 확인할 수 있었다.
특히 용언구에서의 연결어미와 의문문의 문장 끝 억양에서 한국의 동남방언과 일본의 아오야방언과의 유사성을 확인하였다. 곧 도쿄방언과 달리 아오야방언은 설명의문문, 확인의문문 등에서 한국의 동남방언과 유사한 내림조를 이루었다. 다만, 동남방언과 달리 판정의문문에서 도쿄방언과 같은 오름조를 이루었다. 그리고, 오키방언은 동남방언과의 유사성이 적은 것으로 나타났다.
그런데, 이러한 억양적 유사성이 언어적 영향관계에 의해서 온 것인지, 또는 동계언어적 관련성인지는 정확하게 알 수 없다. 그러나, 이러한 유사성이 적어도 우연이 아니라는 것은 한국의 동남 지역과 일본의 환동해 지역과의 지리적, 역사적 인접성과 관련성에서 충분히 유추할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

This study is to compare and analyse the intonation systems between East-South Dialect in Korean and neighboring Izumo Dialects in Japanese.
East-South Dialect in Korean has a totally different intonation system, compared with Midland Dialect and the rest of dialects in Korean. That is to say, while Midland Dialect in Korean generally has the rising intonation, East-South Dialect has the falling intonation at the end of clause. And East-south Dialect has a different system of intonation at the end of a sentence from that of Midland dialect. Especially there is a totally different from intonation type in interrogative sentences. Interrogative sentences are mainly divided into Yes/No interrogative sentence, Wh- interrogative sentence, and an interrogative sentence with indefinite pronoun. Whereas Midland Dialect in Korean has the rising intonation, East-South Dialect in Korean has all falling intonation in them.
Nevertheless, neighboring Izumo Dialects in Japanese have appeared to be a similar intonation type, compared with East-South dialect in Korean. Although neighboring Izumo Dialects in Japanese have the same dialect area of Tokyo dialect in accentual system; they have a different intonation system. They are very similar as if East-South dialect in Korean has a different type of intonation, compared with that of Midland Dialect in Korean. Especially, the similarity of that type appears dominantly in intonation at the end of interrogative sentence.
This study is also intended to analyse the intonation in the area of Izumo, adding to the intonations in the area of Aoya, and Oki island of Shimane prefecture.
As a result of this analysis, although the intonation of Aoya dialect in Tottori prefecture is very similar to that of Izumo Dialect at the end of interrogative sentence, Oki dialect has appeared to be mixed with Tokyo dialect and Izumo dialect. Judging from this, the intonation of Aoya Dialect has some connection with that of East-South Dialect in Korean Izumo dialect; Oki Dialect is less relevant to East-South Dialect in Korean in intonation system.
