초록

패션은 개인의 취향과 욕망을 표현하고 자아와 타 자 사이의 경계 또는 관계를 형성한다. 또한, 개인의 정체성을 구성하며 때로는 규범적 정체성에 저항하거 나 새로운 정체성을 융합하기도 하는 등의 복합적 기 능을 표현할 수 있는 매체이기도하다. 본 연구는 밀레니얼 세대 패션 브랜드로 최근 남성 복 디자인 영역에서 혁신적인 시도를 하고 있는 ‘팔로 모 스페인(Palomo Spain)’의 젠더 복합성을 살펴보고 자 하는 시각에서 시작되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 21세 기에 변화를 겪고 있는 젠더 개념을 바탕으로 현대 남성복식을 살펴보고 남성성에 대한 인식, 패션에 관 한 본질적 가치를 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 이론적 고찰을 위한 문헌 연구와 ‘팔로모 스페 인’의 사례분석을 시도하였다. 팔로모 스페인은 스페인 출신 디자이너 알레한드로 고메즈 팔로모 ((Alejandro Gómez Palomo)가 2015년에 설립한 패션 브랜드로 남성복의 젠더 경계를 허물고 남성성에 대 한 새로운 관점을 제시한다고 평가된다. 2016 A/W 컬렉션부터 2019 S/S 컬렉션까지의 작업과 1개의 크 루즈 컬렉션까지 총 7개의 컬렉션을 살펴본 후 분석 한 연구결과 및 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 팔로모 스페인 컬렉션의 디자인은 정형화된 여성 패션을 남성복에 직접 적용하면서 남성 패션의 고정된 조형성을 해체한다. 스커트와 드레스 뿐 만 아 닌, 화려한 장식성은 여성 패션의 전유물로 보이기보 다 아름다운 패션을 구현하는 역할을 한다. 둘째, 남 성성과 여성성의 경계를 해체한다. 팔로모 스페인의 패션 애티튜드는 모호하며 남성성과 여성성의 구분은 무의미하다. 퀴어적 성향과 아름답고 우아한 패션의 본질이 나타나고 있다. 셋째, 직접적인 섹슈얼리티의 표현은 에로틱하고 양가적이며 환상적인 분위기를 통 해 마술적 분위기, 신비로운 분위기를 연출한다. 디자 이너 팔로모에게 패션은 인간의 욕망과 환상성의 표 현으로 해석된다. 그의 패션에 대한 해석은 그 어떤 경계도, 범주도 와해하고 수행하는 방식에 따라 남성 성과 여성성도 재 정의하고 있다. 이에 따라 나타나는 내적 가치는 인간 감각의 다원주의적 시각에 입각한 ‘다면적 가치성’과 고정가치의 위반을 통해 새로운 시 각을 제시하는 ‘위반의 재구성’으로 나타난다. 팔로모 스페인 남성 패션의 미적 해석에 대한 해체주의적 해 석은 젠더의 복합적 성향으로 구체화 되고 있으며, 한 장소에 정착하지 않음으로써 인간 해방을 구현한다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 현대 패션의 젠더 정체 성의 확장된 해석과 남성 패션 디자인의 새로운 지표 를 설정할 수 있기를 기대한다.

영어초록

Fashion expresses individual tastes and desires and forms the boundary or relationship between self and other. It is also a medium with multiple functions, such as constituting individual identities, sometimes resisting normative identities, or converging new identities. This article looks over the gender multiplicity expressed by ‘Palomo Spain’, a men’s wear brand that has been innovating in the field of men’s wear design of the millennial generation. The purpose of this study is to examine the contemporary men 's fashion as a concept of gender changing in the 21st century and to examine the intrinsic value of fashion through the concept of gender. Therefore, this paper has carried out a literature review for theoretical consideration and a case study of 'Palomo Spain'. Palomo Spain is a fashion brand founded by Spanish designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo in 2015, which is expected to break down the gender boundaries of men's wear and provide a new perspective on masculinity. This study examines and analysis from year 2016 A/W collection to year 2019 S/S collection and one cruise collection. The results are as follows. First, the design of the Palomo Spain collection directly applies formal women 's fashion to men’ s clothes and disassembles the fixed formality of men’s fashion. In addition to skirts and dresses, colorful ornaments play a role in creating beautiful fashion, rather than as a whole of women's fashion. Second, the boundary between males and females is deconstructed. Palomo Spain’s fashion attitude is ambiguous, and the distinction between masculinity and femininity is pointless. It is only the appearance of a queer tendency and the essence of beautiful and elegant fashion. Third, it expresses magical and mysterious atmosphere through erotic, ambivalent and fantastic mood by expressing direct sexuality. For fashion designer Palomo, fashion is interpreted as an expression of one’s desire and fantasy. His interpretation of fashion redefines masculinity and femininity according to the way in which the boundaries, categories, and practices are broken. The internal value thus appears as a ‘multifaceted value’ under the pluralistic view of the human senses and a ‘reconstruction of violation’ which presents a new perspective through the violation of the fixed value. The deconstructive interpretation of the aesthetic interpretation of male fashion is embodied by the complex tendency of gender and it aims to realize human liberation by not being settled in one place. Based on the results of this research, it can be expected possibly to set up a new interpretation of men’s fashion design and an expanded interpretation of gender identity in contemporary fashion.
