명ㆍ청 시대 여의문을 활용한 텍스타일 패턴디자인 개발 (Development of Textile Pattern Design Utilizing Yeouimon from the Ming and Qing Dynasties)

초록

여의문은 중국 전통 문화의 중요한 부분으로, 위진남북조 시대부터 발전하여 명⋅청 시대에 전성기를맞이했다. 여의문은 상서로움을 상징하며 시대의 문화적 정체성을 반영하여 중국의 핵심적인 전통문양으로발전해왔다, 이러한 기하학적 구조와 장식적 요소를포함하고 있는 여의문을 현대적으로 재해석하여 텍스타일 패턴디자인 분야에 기초자료로 도움을 주고자 하였다. 또한 전통문화의 현대적 계승과 발전을 도모하고자 함을 목적에 두고 있다.
연구범위는 명⋅청 시대의 여의문중을 도자기, 직물, 칠기, 금은기, 목조를 범위로 선정하여 특징은 조사 분석하였으며, 분석한 결과를 바탕으로 6가지 콘셉트(“단순성”, “유기성”, “연속성”, “대칭적”, “복합성”, “조화성”)를 선정하여 텍스타일 패턴디자인을 개발하였다. 연구방법은 국내외 서적, 논문, 웹페이지 등 문헌을 통해 여의문의 이해, 명⋅청 시대의 여의문 특징에 대한 이론적 고찰을 진행하였다. 어도비 일러스트레이터(Adobe Illustrator)와 어도비 포토샵(Adobe Photoshop)을 이용하여 텍스타일 패턴디자인을 제안하였다.
명⋅청 시대의 여의문 특징을 바탕으로 한 텍스타일 패턴디자인은 다음과 같은 결론을 도출시켰다.
명 시대 여의문을 활용한 텍스타일 패턴디자인은첫째, 도자기 여의문을 활용한 “단순성” 텍스타일 패턴디자인 제시는 대칭구조와 곡선미, 전통색채를 바탕으로 전통미와 현대감성을 조화롭게 구현하였다. 둘째, 직물 여의문을 활용한 “유기성” 텍스타일 패턴디자인 제시는 균형잡힌 구조와 생동감 있는 컬러로 전통과 현대가 조화롭게 표현되었다. 셋째, 칠기, 금은기, 목조 여의문을 활용한 “연속성” 텍스타일 패턴디자인 제시는 칠기, 금은기, 목조 여의문을 현대적으로재해석하여 전통미와 세련미를 조화롭게 표현하였다.
청 시대 여의문을 활용한 텍스타일 패턴디자인은첫째, 도자기 여의문을 활용한 “대칭적” 텍스타일 패턴디자인 제시는 대칭구조와 유기적 장식, 은은한 색채로 현대적 감성을 구현하였다. 둘째, 직물 여의문을활용한“복합성” 텍스타일 패턴디자인 제시는 대칭적기하구조를 모티프와 그라데이션으로 재해석하였다.
셋째, 칠기, 금은기, 목조 여의문을 활용한 “조화성” 텍스타일 패턴디자인 제시는 정교한 모티프와 화려한장식을 조화롭게 디자인하였다.
따라서 본 연구는 여의문의 문화적 가치와 역사적변천을 탐구하여 중국 전통문화의 의의를 강조하였다.
전통과 현대를 융합한 여의문 재해석에 초점을 맞춤으로써, 새로운 시장 기회 창출과 텍스타일디자인 경쟁력 제고에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

영어초록

The ‘Ruyi’ patterns is an important part of traditional Chinese culture, having developed from the Wei-Jin and Northern and Southern dynasties periods to reach its peak during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The ‘Ruyi’ patterns symbolizes auspiciousness and reflects the cultural identity of its era, becoming a core traditional pattern in China. This study aims to reinterpret the geometric structure and decorative elements of the ‘Ruyi’ patterns in a modern context, providing foundational materials for textile pattern design. The goal is to promote the modern inheritance and development of traditional Chinese culture.
The scope of this research included investigating ‘Ruyi’ patterns from the Ming and Qing dynasties as manifested in ceramics, textiles, lacquerware, metalwork, and woodwork. Based on the analysis results, six concepts (“Simplicity”, “Organicity”, “Continuity”, “Symmetry”, “Complexity”, and “Harmony”) were identified for developing textile patterns. The methodology involved theoretical reviews of domestic and international literature, including books, papers, and web pages, to understand the features of ‘Ruyi’ patterns from these periods. The design proposals were created using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
The study concluded the following on textile patterns based on the ‘Ruyi’ features of the Ming and Qing eras.
In the Ming dynasty, the textile pattern designs utilizing ‘Ruyi’ motifs were distinctively crafted. First, the “Simplicity” design for ceramics featured a symmetric structure enriched with curved aesthetics and traditional colors, seamlessly blending traditional beauty with contemporary sensibilities. Second, the “Organicity” design, applied to textiles, presented a balanced structure with vibrant colors, articulately expressing a harmony between tradition and modernity.
Third, the “Continuity” design for lacquerware, metalwork, and wood incorporated ‘Ruyi’ motifs, which were reinterpreted in a modern context to combine traditional beauty with a refined aesthetic gracefully.
The textile pattern designs leveraging ‘Ruyi’ motifs during the Qing dynasty were equally innovative. The first, a “Symmetry” design in ceramics, utilized symmetric structures with organic decorations and subtle hues to craft a contemporary sensibility. The second, termed “Complexity” for textiles, reinterpreted symmetric geometric structures using motifs and gradients. Lastly, the “Harmony” design for lacquerware, metalwork, and wood featured intricate motifs and lavish decorations, achieving a sophisticated balance between elaborate artistry and the overarching design.
Thus, this research underscores the cultural significance and historical evolution of ‘Ruyi’, emphasizing the value of traditional Chinese culture. Focusing on reinterpreting ‘Ruyi’ to fuse traditional elements with modern concepts is anticipated to generate new market opportunities and enhance design competitiveness
