고려말․조선초 供上用 銘文靑瓷의 이행 과정과 제작 배경 (Transition and Production of Inscribed Celadon for Service to the Royal Family, from Late Goryeo to Early Joseon Dynasty)

초록

고려 14세기 후반에 제작된 官司銘청자와 1389년에 사옹이 수취했던 內用瓷器는 모두 供上을 위해 제작된 것이었다. 이러한 고려말 명문청자의 조형적 특징을 계승한 예가 ‘사선’명청자와 왕실부 관련 청자였다.
‘사선’명청자는 1388년 위화도 회군으로 개혁 유신이 정권을 잡고 제도 정비와 관제 개편이 본격적으로 시작되는 1389년 이후에 제작되었을 것으로 추정하였다. 당시 관제 정비의 기본 방향은 첨설직과 都監․色 등의 임시 관청을 혁파하고 정식 관청의 기능을 되찾는 것이었다. 따라서 연례색이나 준비색과 같은 임시 관청이 혁파되고, 사선서의 飮膳 供上 기능이 회복되면서 ‘司膳’명청자가 제작되었을 것으로 추정하였다. ‘사선’명청자는 전형적인 인화분청사기가 확인되지 않기 때문에 1410년대까지 제작되었을 것으로 판단된다.
조선초 왕실부도 고려 왕실부와 다르게 공상 기능이 추가되면서 명문청자가 제작되었던 것으로 추정하였다. 조선초 왕실부는 고려말 內用 供上을 담당하던 왕실 私藏庫가 합속되면서 공상 기능이 강화되었고 왕실부의 財源도 승계되는 특징을 보였다. 재원의 승계 여부와 승계 시점도 명문자기의 제작에 영향을 미쳤던 것으로 추정하였다. 왕실부 중에서 재원을 받지 못한 경흥부, 수령부, 경창부는 관련 명문청자가 확인되지 않았다. 또한 승령부와 공안부는 1400년에 설치되어 1403년에 재원을 승계받았기 때문에 비교적 이른 양식의 명문청자가 제작될 수 있었다. 반면에 경승부는 1402년에, 인수부와 인령부는 1400년에 설치되었지만 재원의 승계 시점은 각각 1415년, 1418년, 1420년으로 늦었기 때문에 관련 명문자기는 고려말 상감청자 양식의 명문청자는 확인되지 않고 전형적인 인화분청사기만이 확인된다. 따라서 왕실부의 명문자기는 재원을 받아서 실질적인 공상 기능을 하던 시기에 제작되었던 것으로 추정하였다.
고려가 망하고 조선이 건국되는 정치적으로 혼란했던 과정에서 명문청자의 제작 배경에는 ‘供上’이라는 공통점이 있었다. 명문청자의 제작이 고려말에서 조선초에 이루어진 官制 정비와 제도 개편에서 공상 기능을 하던 官司들의 향방과 밀접하게 관련되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영어초록

The inscribed celadons produced in late 14th century Goryeo and the royal celadons received by the ‘Saong’(king’s attendants as royal chef) in 1389 were all produced for the royal family. The figurative features of inscribed celadons in late Goryeo are a continuation of ‘saseon’ inscribed celadons and celadons related to the Royal Family's Establishment.
It is assumed that ‘saseon’ inscribed celadons were produced after 1389. This is when policy rearrangements and government reform took place after the Revitalizing Reform in 1388 that followed the Wihwado Retreat. The basic direction of government reform was to get rid of temporary authorities such as cheomseoljik, dogam and saek. At the same time, the reform aimed to restore the power of official authorities. So the temporary authorities like yeonryesaek and junbisaek were removed, and as saseonseo recovered its original function, the ‘saseon’ inscribed celadons may have been produced. As it is not confirmed typical Buncheong wares with stamped flower designs on ‘saseon’ inscribed celadons, we assumed that they were produced until the 1410s.
Unlike Goryeo, the Royal Family's Establishment during the early Joseon Dynasty had additional function to manage royal gifts as well as daily necessities for royal family, which is why inscribed celadons were produced. The early Joseon's Royal Family Establishment absorbed sajanggo (royal family’s private financial institute), which took care of royal gifts during the late Goryeo era. Its function was reinforced in the process, and inherited the resources of Royal Family's Establishment. Because the resources and functions of late Goryeo's offices of royal finance were succeeded by early Joseon, it is assumed that the condition of inscribed celadons used by the related offices was embraced without significant changes. In addition, the succession of resources and its time period probably had an impact on the production of inscribed celadons. The departments in the Royal Family's Establishment such as Gyeongheungbu, Suryeongbu and Gyeongchangbu didn't get financial support, and there were no inscribed celadons related to these. In addition, because Seungryeongbu and Gonganbu departments were established in 1400 and took over resources in 1403, they produced inscribed celadons with a relatively older style. On the other hand, the Gyeongseungbu, Insubu, and Inryeongbu departments were established early, in 1402 and 1400, but the succession took place later, in 1415, 1418, and 1420, respectively. So the inscribed celadons associated with these ones were only discovered in Buncheong wares with stamped flower designs. Therefore, we assumed the inscribed celadons possessed by the Royal Family's Establishment were produced when it acted as royal servants after receiving the resources.
During the shift from the Goryeo Dynasty to the Joseon Dynasty, the history behind the production of inscribed celadons shared similarity in ‘gongsang’(service to the royal family). We were able to confirm that the production of inscribed celadons was closely related to the authorities that served the royal family during the government policy reforms, from the late Goryeo Dynasty to the early Joseon Dynasty.
