초록

<하얀 리본>은 마치 우리가 자면서 꾸는 꿈의 형성 기법으로 만들어진영화다. 억압된 것의 회귀에 해당하는 것이 바로 영화에서의 사건으로, 사건은 우리가 꾸는 꿈-내용(꿈)에 해당된다. 반면 사건을 야기하는 원인으로서의 진실, 혹은 억압된 것은 꿈-사고에 해당되는데, 이것은 그 모습을 그대로 드러내지 않고 변형 왜곡되어 표출된다. 이때 가장 흔히 사용되는 기법이 압축과 이동이다. <하얀 리본>에서는 꿈-내용(꿈)에 해당하는 사건을보여줄 때 꿈-내용(꿈)의 형성과정에서 가장 중요한 기전인 압축과 이동 작용을 특징적으로 보여준다. <하얀 리본>은 사실주의 기법을 적용한 영화처럼 보이지만 실제로는 감독이 꿈에서의 심리적 검열자인 자아처럼 압축과 이동 기제를 사용하여 시퀀스와 시퀀스 사이를 생략하고 건너뛰고 삽입하고 의도적으로 흐릿하게 만들고 복선을 깔고 암시를 주는 방식으로모든 사람이 범인이 될 수 있는 가능성을 제기하면서 동시에 그 누구도 범인이 아니라는 식으로 영화를 끌고 간다. 영화 속의 사건들은 무의식적으로 억압된 것이 회귀한 것이다. 감독은 여러 가지 사건을 통해 억압된 것을보여주는데 그 과정에서 이동과 압축을 통해 변형 왜곡된 형태로 보여준다. 그래서 관객은 억압된 것의 본래 모습을 선명하게 알 수 없고 단지 어렴풋하게 짐작만 할 뿐이다. 감독은 영화에 내레이터를 도입하고 사건의원인을 밝히기 어렵게 만드는 꿈의 형성 기법을 통해 진실은 결코 완전히밝혀지지 않는다는 것을 보여준다. 영화가 사건의 진실을 추적하는 내용이라면, 그 진실의 모든 것은 감독이 짜놓은 진실의 각본이다. 진실이 미궁에 빠지는 것은, 사건의 전모가 밝혀지지 않는 것은 감독의 촬영과 편집 기법이 그러하기 때문이다. <하얀 리본>은 꿈의 형성에 작용하는 압축과 이동 기제를 통해 진실의 속성인 반쯤 드러나기를 잘 보여준다. 영화에서 감독은 마치 범인이 범죄를 숨기고 위장하는 방식을 그대로 쓰고 있다. 결국감독이 말하고자 하는 것은 진실은 부분적으로만 모습을 드러날 뿐 끝끝내 완전히 드러나지 않는다는 것이다. 진실은 우물에서 몸을 반쯤만 드러낸다. 이것을 영화 속의 사건에 적용하면, 사회적 보편적 억압의 진실은 사건 밖으로 몸을 반쯤만 드러내고, 영화에 적용하면 영화의 진실은 영화 밖으로 몸을 반쯤만 드러낸다. 그것이 곧 진실의 진실임을 감독은 <하얀 리본>에서 보여주고 있다.

영어초록

<White Ribbon> is a film made by the technique of dream formation which acts on our dreams. The incidents in the film correspond to the returning of the repressed, and the contents of our dream. On the contrary, the truth or the repressed as a cause which gives rise to incidents corresponds to dream-thought. It is not revealed itself as it is, but expressed into incidents in a modified form. In the film, condensation and displacement are the most commonly used techniques for transformation and distortion. In <White Ribbon>, when incidents corresponding to dream-content (dream) appear, they characteristically show the mechanisms of condensation and displacement that are most important in the process of forming dream-content (dream). <White Ribbon> seems realistic and concrete like films with realism. In fact, the director, like the psychological censor in dreams, the omits, skips, inserts, blurs scenes deliberately, obfuscates the meanings, and indicates something beforehand in sequences, using condensation and displacement mechanisms. As a result, the movie unfolds in such a way that everyone can be the culprit and no one is the culprit at the same time.
Incidents in the film correspond to the thing that has been repressed unconsciously and returned. The director shows the repressed in a transformed and distorted form using condensation and displacement in various incidents. Therefore, the audience can not clearly see the original appearance of what is repressed, but only guess it vaguely. The director shows that the truth never reveals itself completely, introducing narration and using dream-formation technique which makes it difficult to determine the cause of the incidents. If this film is about chasing the truth of incidents, everything about it is a script of the truth that the director has woven. The truth falls into mystery and the whole story of incidents does not reveal itself because of the director's filming and editing techniques. <White Ribbon> shows the trait of truth, revealing its body only part by part, through the mechanism of condensation and displacement that act on dream-formation. The director produces the film in the same way criminals hide and disguise the crime. In conclusion, what the director intends to tell is that the truth only appears partially, but not reveals itself completely. The truth reveals its body only half out of the well. When this is applied to incidents in the film, the truth of universal, social oppression reveals its body only half out of the event, and when applied to the film itself, the truth of the film reveals its body half out of the film. The director shows it is the truth of truth in <White Ribbon>.
