초록

본 연구는 일제강점기 서면 지역의 부산부 편입 이후 공업화에 관하여 부전리, 가야리를 중심으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 이는 서면이 부산부가 공업도시이자 전시 군사적 역할 할 수 있었던 주요 무대였다고 생각하기 때문이다. 본래 동래군의 행정구역이었던 서면은 1936년 부산부로 편입되었다. 이는 조선총독부의 시가지계획 아래 부산부 내 인구의 밀집, 용지의 부족 등 문제의 해결과 부산부의 군사적, 산업적 역할 강화라는 목적을 배경으로 이루어졌다. 당시 서면은 부산부와 인접한 평지로 부산부의 거주 환경 개선을 위한 각종 위험시설과 공장지대가 형성될 수 있는 곳으로 주목받았던 곳이었다. 서면은 부산도시계획에 따라 부전리, 부산진, 적기만 등의 토지구회 정리, 교통가로망 정비를 통해 산업지대, 임해공업지대로 형성되었다.
편입 후 서면 지역의 사업체 설립이 급증하였으며 업종의 경우에도 전시통제경제에 편승할 가능성이 높은 업체가 많아지는 경향을 보인다. 부전리, 가야리를 제외한 지역의 편입전후 사업체 현황을 보면 서면 북부 지역(당감, 부암, 범전, 전포)은 1939년 이후부터 사업체 설립이 많아지는 경향을 보인다. 특히 경부선, 동해남부선 주변으로 사업체 설립이 많아지고 있었고, 철도 주변으로는 군용지로 이용되었다. 서면의 동남부 지역(문현, 감만, 우암, 적기, 용호)의 경우 부산진, 적기 매축이 진행되고 임항철도가 건설되는 시기 사업체 설립이 많았다.
부전, 가야에 설립된 사업체 역시 1939년 이후 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 전시 통제물자이지만 일상생활에 소비되거나 전시 편승 가능성이 높은 물자를 취급하는 업체가 많았다. 부전의 경우 부산시가지계획 단계부터 집중적으로 정비 대상이 된 지역이다. 가야의 경우 부전과 같이 부산부 편입 단계부터 집중 정비지역은 아니었지만 1943년 조차장 가야역의 개통 전후 군수동원 가능 업체가 집중 설립되었던 지역이다. 또 부전리, 가야리에 설립된 사업체 위치는 ‘부산진-구포/동래-항만’을 잇는 교통 결절지로 여객뿐만 아니라 화물의 이동도 빈번한 곳이다. 요컨대, 부전리, 가야리의 사업체는 물자 운‧수송에서 교통편의성이 높고, 여러 업종 또는 유사업종이 집적되어 있는 곳으로, 특히 동양연료(주) 부산공장 설치와 조선전기제강(주)의 군수회사 제2차 지정 대상 및 방직관련 업체의 집적 모습은 서면 설립사업체의 전시 협력 또는 편승의 일면을 보여주는 사례라고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study attempted to examine the industrialization of Seomyeon after the incorporation of Busan-bu, focusing on Bujeon-ri and Gaya-ri. Seomyeon, originally an administrative district of Dongnae-gun, was incorporated into Busan-bu in 1936. This was done in accordance with the Busan-bu Metropolitan Government's plan by the Governor-General of Korea, with the aim of solving problems such as the concentration of the population in Busan-bu and the lack of land, and strengthening the military and industrial role of Busan-bu. At that time, Seomyeon was a flat land adjacent to Busan-bu and attracted attention as a place where various dangerous facilities and factory areas could be formed to improve the residential environment of Busan-bu. Seomyeon was formed as an industrial zone and a marine industrial zone through land compartmentalization such as Bujeon-ri, Busanjin, and Jeokgi Bay, and maintenance of a traffic path network according to the Busan City Plan.
Since it was incorporated into the Busan Ministry, the establishment of businesses in Seomyeon has increased, and companies that are likely to jump into the wartime control economy have emerged.Looking at the current status of establishment of companies before and after the incorporation of Busan-bu in areas other than Bujeon-ri and Gaya-ri, the northern areas of Seomyeon (Danggam, Buam, Beomjeon, and Jeonpo) tend to have more workplaces since 1939. In particular, the number of workplaces was increasing around the Gyeongbu Line and the Donghae Nambu Line, and it was used as a military site around the railroad. In the southeastern part of Seomyeon (Moonhyeon, Gamman, Wooam, Jeokgi, and Yongho), there were many companies established at the time when the Busanjin, Jeokgi Reclamation, and Imhang Railroad were built.
Companies established in Bujeon and Gaya have tended to increase since 1939, and many companies were dominated by wartime and handled goods that could be consumed in daily life or jumped on the battlefield. In the case of Bujeon, it is an area that has been intensively maintained in Busan-bu's urban planning. In the case of Gaya, it was not an intensive maintenance area from the stage of incorporation into Busan-bu like Bujeon, but it is an area where power increase companies were intensively established around the opening of Gaya Station in 1943. In addition, the location of the business offices in Bujeon-ri and Gaya-ri is a traffic nodule area connecting "Busan-jin-Gupo/Dongrae-Port" and is convenient for not only passengers but also cargo movement. In addition, various industries or similar businesses are concentrated. In particular, Dongyang Fuel Co., Ltd., which produces chemical products to reduce coal fuel efficiency, installed a factory in Busan, and Chosun Electric Steel Co., Ltd. became the second designated military company, or the concentration of textile-related companies is an example of the wartime economy.
