해남 우항리 대형 공룡발자국화석지의 손상도 정밀진단 및 보존환경 평가 (Evaluation of Deterioration Diagnosis and Conservation Environments of the Large and the Giant Dinosaur Footprint Fossils in Haenam Uhangri, Korea)

초록

해남 우항리 제3지구 대형 및 초대형 공룡발자국화석지의 장기적인 보존을 위한 정밀 손상도 진단을 수행하였다. 제3보호각의 대형 공룡발자국화석지는 주로 흑색셰일로 이루어져 있으며, 야외 초대형 공룡발자국화석지는 유문암질 기질에 석영과 조장석 반정조직을 갖는 응회질사암이다. 공룡 발자국화석지의 손상도 평가 결과, 주요한 물리적 풍화로는 균열, 박리, 파쇄, 보수물질 재손상이 나타났으며 화학적 풍화로는 백화현상, 갈색변색, 흑색변색 및 함수대가 관찰되었다. 이를 바탕으로 손상지도를 작성하였으며 각 양상별 손상율을 구하여 훼손상태를 해석하였다. 공룡발자국 암석의 물성진단은 초음파속도를 활용하였으며, 이 결과 대형 공룡발자국화석지는 0.50, 초대형 공룡발자국화석지는 0.55의 평균 풍화도 지수가 산출되었다. 두 화석지의 풍화도 지수는 풍화단계상 HW (highly weathered)에 해당하는 것으로 심각한 풍화단계에 있음을 지시한다. 화석지 암석의 갈색 및 흑색변색 부분과 백화현상 지점을 대상으로 P-XRF를 측정한 결과, 표면 오염물의 주요 성분은 Fe, Mn, Ca, S 및 Cl로 나타났다. 또한 백화현상 지점에서 산출되는 백색의 염 결정은 세나다이트(Na_2SO_4)로 동정되었으며, 이들은 화석지에 유입된 수분의 유동흔적을 따라 발생하며 지하수와 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 평가된다. 보호각 내부의 위치별 미기후 모니터링 결과, 화석지와 관람로의 미기후 특성이 다른 것으로 나타났으며 이는 보호각 내부의 구조적 특성, 지하수의 유입과 같은 외부 요인 등이 복합적으로 작용한 것으로 판단된다.

영어초록

The large and the giant dinosaur footprint fossils of the third site at Haenam Uhangri, conservation scientific research has been performed. The rock of the large dinosaur footprint fossils site in the third protection hall composed mainly of black shale, and the giant dinosaur footprint fossils site in outdoor is tuffaceous sandstone stratum within rhyolitic matrix and anhedral quartz and albite phenocrysts. Deterioration evaluation results revealed that the primary physical weatherings are crack, scaling, cataclastic zone, degradation of conservation material, and the chemical weatherings are efflorescence, brown discoloration, dark-gray discoloration, water saturated zone and biological colonization. In this site, these weathering forms of the fossils are closely related to groundwater and salt ingredient therein. Through ultrasonic measurement, the property for rocks of the dinosaur foorprints fossil sites was diagnosed, and as a result, all the sites were classified with the highly weathered (HW) stage which is a severe weathering stage. The average weathering coefficient of footprint fossils in the third protection hall was calculated as 0.50 and the average weathering coefficient of the giant dinosaur footprint fossils was calculated as 0.55. The result of the P-XRF measurement on brown to dark-gray discoloration and efflorescence points, the main cause of the surface pollutants were Fe, Mn, Ca, S and Cl. And white salt crystal which appeared at efflorescence was thenardite (Na_2SO_4), and which has close relations with ground water, appearing along with the current trace of water flowed into the fossil sites. Result of the indoor microclimate evaluation in the third protection hall has revealed that the same protection hall has a different distribution characteristic of temperature and humidity according to the places. It is interpreted that the external factors such as the structural characteristics of the inside of the protection halls, the inflow of ground water, has affected complexly.
