초록

Malherbe is a famous French poet who led French (poetic) language reform in the 17th century. He is also the pronoun of all kinds of linguistic purism which demand application of normative rules of langue to all sorts of parole.
We should know that the linguistic purism of Malherbe was a result of his social and historical points of view. He read the decline of the Ancient Regime and the rise of the Nouveau Regime, and stood on the Nouveau Regime side. In this context, he argued that langue française of popular Parisians should be the new model of all types of parole, including poetic language.
Malherbe’s linguistic purism was revealed in his comments about Desportes’s poems. According to those remarks, even poems must be written by langue populaire, because it is universal. In his words, when a poet write a poem with this exact, actual, easy, concrete and simple language, his linguistic use is pure.
By way of Malherbe, French linguistic purism was born in relation to poetic language. The reform of French poetic language proceeded in step with the accession to the throne of langue française. In other words, the French poetic and linguistic revolution was executed by a very singular figure: Malherbe, grammatical poet and one of the original purists.
