    초록

    This paper is to clarify that the conflict of school history textbooks between Korea and Japan is not merely the historical problems existing in Japanese middle and high school textbooks but those social recognition towards historical matters.
    Analysis was limited to some representative ones which contain the contents of Imjinwaeran(Japan's Invasion into Joseon dynasty in Imjin year) and Korea–Japan relationship in later Joseon dynasty; the most popular history text which Japanese high school students study for university entrance exam, two introductory history books which are used at universities as Japanese history textbook, and two representative Japanese dictionaries They still uses the term ‘Shyupei’ with regard to Imjinwaeran and have sensitive narratives that they are one of the worst sufferers of the war. One of the greatest influences of the war was the import of high quality culture, but it is less emphasized than middle and high school textbooks. The background of the invasion is explained as a result of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s great ambition not even mentioning his megalomaniac notion.
    One of their remarkable narrative attitudes towards later Joseon dynasty which should be paid attention to are as follows : first, the evaluation of the resumption of diplomatic relations; they evaluate Giyu Agreements between Joseon government and the governor of Tsushima as a ‘Treaty’. They have tried to downgrade Joseon government on the basis of the private relations between Joseon government and governor of Tsushima assuming that only Joseon sent delegate to Tsushima. The recent results of it are not included in their texts: second, With regard to Tongshinsa in later Joseon, they have insisted to describe the lower term Jogongsa(tributary delegates) instead of Tongshinsa(delegates for communications between two countries) in all their history–related books, references, and dictionaries.
