설교학적 관점에서 본 신정론 (Theodicy from the perspective of homiletics)

초록

한국의 설교자들이 쓰나미와 같은 자연재해나 세월호 참사와 같은 일이 발생하면 근본주의적 성서관에서 벗어나지 못하는 발언을 할 때가 있다. 이것은 스토아학파가 말하는 신정론과 성서가 말하는 신정론을 구분하지 못하고 있다고 있기 때문이다. 이 논문은 성서학자들이 말하는 신정론을 소개하면서 한국 교회와 사회의 적용점을 생각해 보았다. 우선, 구약의 신정론을 살펴보면서 독일어권 구약학자인 만프레드 외밍(Manfred Oeming) 교수와 콘라드 슈미드(Konrad Schmid) 교수의 욥기에 관한 신학을 소개하였다. 그리고 신약의 신정론은 게르트 타이쎈 (Gerd Theiβen) 교수의 이론을 소개하면서 특히, 귀인 이론(歸因 理論)도 함께 생각하였다. 귀인 이론(歸因 理論)으로 세월호 참사를 본다면 선장과 승무원들의 책임윤리 부재와 한국 사회 곳곳에 만연한 도덕적 해이(moral hazard)가 근본 원인이라고 할 수 있다. 설교자가 세월호 참사에 대해 설교를 한다면 어른들의 윤리의식 부재를 반드시 언급해야 한다.
성서비평학적으로 욥기서를 본다면 새롭게 이해될 수 있다. 욥은 죽는 그 날까지 하나님과 사탄의 내기 때문에 그가 고난을 받았던 사실을 몰랐다. 볼프강 드레셀(Wolfgang Drechsel) 교수는 욥, 그 자신의 통곡과 욥 친구들의 통곡, 그리고 고난의 이유와 아픔에 대한 그들의 대화 등이 통합적으로 작용해서 상담학적으로 욥에게 치유적 역할을 했을 것이라고 말한다. 욥기를 해석할 때 고난에 대한 어떤 말이나 해석보다는 욥의 고통을 보고 칠일 밤낮으로 함께 울었던 친구의 행동에 초점을 맞추어야 한다. 실천신학적으로 신정론은 해석보다는 공감과 행동이 우선되어야 한다. 게르트 타이쎈 교수도 ‘감정이입의 하나님의 신정론’을 말한다. 성서가 증언하는 하나님은 고통받는 자신의 피조물과 함께 고통받는(suffer with) 연민(com-passionate)의 하나님이고, 인간과 온 세상 그리고 피조물의 탄식에 참여하는 감정이입의 하나님을 증언한다. 설교자는 회중들의 마음과 감정에 공감할 뿐만 아니라, 그들의 공감을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 공감력과 정서적 감성적 호소력을 가지고 있어야 한다. 신정론에 관한 설교할 때 설교자의 파토스(pathos) 기능이 중요하다. 설교자는 우선 아픔과 고통에 공감할 수 있어야 한다. 특히, 한국의 설교자들은 한민족 안에 흐르고 있는 한(恨)의 역사에 동참해야 한다.

영어초록

The majority of preachers in Korea are preaching without knowing what are claimed by Stoic philosophers when they deal with theodicy. Why do natural disasters such tsunami and earthquake occur and are young children with no sin slaughtered during war, if the Almighty God means love? Such a question became an important philosophical and theological subject across the ages and in all countries of the world. To address theodicy, it is necessary to understand the omnipotence and love of the God as Christian theology says. The omnipotence of the Almighty God takes care of all creations; is an expression to contain the depth and width of the love of the God who joins people's pain; and the love of God who joins the destiny of the created world forever. Moreover, God's love as testified in the Bible should not be interpreted as backing off or silence or wait and see or neglect. With respect to the hardship in reality, God's power should not be understood as physically psychic power or supernatural power to get rid of hardship. Solving theodicy is not in satisfiable and recognizable description of evils but in making the relationship between man and God much fresher and deeper.
Many preachers in Korea are misunderstanding the Book of Job. According to Konrad Schmid, the introduction part in the Book of Job is not a story to be contained in the body but the introduction part contains important theological meanings. It describes important pastoral theological solutions as well as causes of hardship. But, it's not a book that explains about the reason why they are in torture. The Book of Job is the Wisdom of Solomon. In the Book of Job contains the basic principle of wisdom. It's not a different thing. Seeing the Book of Job from the biblical criticism perspective, it gives a message, “do act of joining the pain" rather than giving works to people in the midst of hardship and pain. Professor Gerd Theiβen tells about the theodicy of empathic God. God participates in the sighs of humans, entire world, and creations (Rome 8:22, 23, 26). In the theodicy understood by the disciples of Jesus Christ, the disciples are understood as successors who participate actively in the hardship of Jesus (Mark 8:35). The vicarious theodicy understood by early churches puts a meaning on the passive hardship for them(Colossians 1:24). The mysticism of hardship makes the community understood with the agony of Christ(Philippians 3:10). Prof. Gerd Theiβen tells the God who is in their agony.
Being together with the sufferers from the counselling perspective looks like a simple principle, but it's a very important thing. "Being together with" those sufferers that ministers cannot understand so that they can regain their foot gives comfort to laymen. Only the act of joining their pain even if it will bring about no big changes when a miracle occurs suddenly is a root for healing and a power to withstand such a hardship. In particular, Korean people is a nation who had been suppressed historically and sociologically enough to be called as the race of resentment. Prof. Jeong Tae-gi told that venting spite was a main mission in the ministry. Especially, Korea suffered from ‘deferred democracy.’ Under the recovery of democracy and resistance and struggle for a society to make people become real people, people feel absence of God. So the church which can be with them together will be the community which can give a reply to the theodicy rightly.
