성령론적 그리스도론의 현대적 흐름과 쟁점 ―종교 다원주의 맥락에서― (The Modern Stream and Issues of Pneumatological Christology in the Context of Religious Pluralism)

초록

오늘날 현대 신학에서 이루어지고 있는 성령론적 그리스도론의 흐름은 구원경륜적 삼위일체론의 관점에서 그리스도론의 전통적 흐름을 재해석하는 데에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이러한 당위성과 필요성에 대해서는 여러 언어권의 신학자들이 공통적으로 강조하는 바이다. 성령론적 그리스도론은 특히 구원경륜에서 이루어지는 그리스도와 성령의 긴밀한 상호 관계에 기초하고 있다. 즉, 예수 그리스도의 사건과 신비는 성령을 통한 하느님 자기 전달의 절정이요 극치인 한편, 예수 그리스도 사건은 보편적 성령의 작용을 위한 원인과 근거를 구성한다. 이처럼 예수 그리스도의 사건 속에 작용하는 성령의 활동을 제시함으로써 그리스도의 신비가 내포하는 구원론적 역동성과 종말론적 보편성이 매우 잘 드러나게 되는 것이다. 이러한 성령론적 그리스도론의 전망은 현대의 종교신학적 흐름을 위해서 매우 중요한 원리와 근거를 구성한다. 그리스도께서는 당신의 영을 통해 타종교 안에서도 활동하신다는 성찰이 가능하기 때문이다. 그런데 이러한 영의 활동을 ‘하느님의 영’으로 볼 것인가, 아니면 ‘그리스도의 영’으로 볼 것인가, 하는 문제는 첨예한 종교 다원주의적 쟁점과 연결된 것이라 할 수 있다. 신학자 자크 뒤피는 이 미묘한 차이를 다루면서 성령의 활동에 독자성을 더 부여하고자 시도한다. 그러나 이러한 시도가 지나칠 때, 그리스도의 구원경륜과 성령의 구원경륜을 분리하려는 오류가 발생하게 된다. 일부 신학자들은 이러한 관점에서 성령의 보편적 현존과 활동을 지나치게 강조함으로써 예수 그리스도의 유일성과 보편성을 상대화시키기도 한다. 미국의 신학자 로저 하이트가 그 대표적 경우이다. 그는 이러한 주장으로 말미암아 신앙교리성의 제재를 받게 되었다. 그러므로 현대 신학에서 이루어지는 성령론적 그리스도론의 흐름은 전통적인 말씀(로고스) 그리스도론을 일방적으로 배척하는 것이 아니라, 상호 보완적인 균형과 통합을 이루는 관점에서 개진되어야 할 것이다. 그리스도의 유일한 구원 중개성을 분명히 고수하면서도 타종교 안에서 역동적으로 활동하시는 성령의 보편적 현존을 어떻게 설명할 것인가는, 오늘날의 성령론적 그리스도론 흐름이 종교 다원주의 시대에 마주하고 있는 가장 큰 과제라 할 수 있다.

영어초록

The stream of pneumatological Christology in modern theology aims on re-analyzing traditional course of Christology through the standpoint of salvific economic Trinitarianism. The necessity of this field is commonly emphasized among theologians from various countries and cultures. Pneumatological Christology is especially based on the complemental relationship between the Christ and the Holy Spirit that is formed in the history of salvation. Hence, while the experience and mystery of Jesus Christ is the zenith of the self-communication of God through the Holy Spirit, the experience of Jesus Christ is the cause and foundation for the universal activity of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit working within the event of Jesus Christ, the soteriological activity and the eschatological universality that the mystery of Christ imply are very well revealed. The prospect of such pneumatological Christology is a very important principal and foundation for the stream of modern theology of religions. That is because it is possible to examine that Jesus Christ is working even in other religions through his Spirit. But the problem whether to recognize this activity of the spirit as ‘the Spirit of God’ or ‘the Spirit of Christ’ is one of the very important issues of religious pluralism. Theologian Jacques Dupuis while handling this delicate difference, tried to add uniqueness to the activity of the Holy Spirit. But if such effort goes too far, it will make an error of dividing the salvific economy of both the Christ and the Holy Spirit. Some theologians have even relativized the uniqueness and universality of Jesus Christ by over-emphasizing the universal presence and activity of the Holy Spirit. An example could be the american theologian Roger Haight. Due to such opinion Haight was rebuked by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Therefore, the mainstream of pneumatological Christology in modern theology must not reject the traditional Logos Christology, rather, the two should form a complementary cooperative balance and unity. Adhering the unique mediation of salvation by Christ while explaining the dynamical universal presence and activity of the Holy Spirit within other religions is the greatest challenge that today’s pneumatological Christology faces in the times of religious pluralism.
