尾崎紅葉의『多情多恨』論 -鷲見柳之助의 진심(誠)과 필리아 어페어(philia affair)의 向方- (A study on ozakikoyo's tazyoutakon -Results of ryunosuke's sincerity-)

초록

本論文は、尾崎紅葉の『多情多恨』がどのような小説であるかを考察したものである。従来、『多情多恨』は、「である」調の文体と心理的な側面で研究されてきたけれども、より深く理解するためには当時の歴史的·社会的な側面に対する論議も必要ではないだろうか、という考えから論を起こした。論文の展開は、一番目ラブ(love)の論議、二番目フィリア·アフェア(philiaaffair)の 向方、三番目写実主義小説としての作品作りの結末、という順で述べた。一番目、ラブ(love)の論議では、近代以後、新しく西洋のラブ(love)という概念が精神的な側面を強調した形で紹介された経緯や、そのラブ(恋愛)を巡る知的な論争についてのことを考察した。そして、そのような時代的な関心を背景にして紅葉もラブ(love)に対する自分の意見を作品に反映させたのではないかという仮説を立てた。二番目、フィリア·アフェア(philia affair)의 向方では、誠の持ち主である柳之助が親友の葉山の妻であるお種へ魅了されていく様子を分析した。「女子の友(フレンド)としてお種を愛するのであった」と言いながらも、性的(sexual)な感情を増幅させていく柳之助の様子を指摘を分析した。三番目、実際にはエロス(eros)的な行動を見せながらも、フレンドであると言い張るのは、北村透谷がそうであったように、柳之助自身も明確に整理できなかった友情に関する認識か、当時論議されていたlove(恋愛)に対する概念の錯綜した時代像を反映させたのではないだろうか。要するに、フィリア·アフェア(philia affair)という概念が明確に整理されていない日本の世態人情及び風俗をありのままに見せることによって、『多情多恨』に写実主義の小説として文学史的な意味を持たせたし、写実主義作家としての紅葉の真面目を見せてくれた小説である、と主張した。

영어초록

Tazyoutakon(Loves and Sorrows) written by Ozaki Koyo has been conventionallystudied in terms of its deahru style and psychological aspects. For the deeperunderstanding of his novel, however, it is also necessary to consider the historicaland social background around 1890’s when it was composed. This paper is an attemptto shed light on Loves and Sorrows from these historical and social perspectives.
First, I began to discuss the subject of love, and secondly I treated the results ofphilia affair and thirdly the ending of this work as a realist novel.
First, I tried to examine some arguments concerning love and in particular howthe Occidental concept of love had been introduced into Japan with special emphasison its spiritual aspect. And in the midst of the contemporary interest in the conceptof love, Koyo also seems to have reflected his ideas of love in his novel.
Second, as regards the bearings of philia affair, I analyzed the processes throughwhich Ryunoske, a man of integrity, came to be fascinated by Otane, wife of hisfriend Hayama. Here it is remarkable that in spite of his saying, “I love Otane justas a friend” Ryunoske is getting more and more engrossed in sexual feelings.
Third, Ryunoske’s alleged friendship despite his erotic emotion may be considereda manifestation of confused ideas of friendship Ryunoske himself could not defineclearly as Kitamura Tokoku could either. And the disputed concept of love at thattime may be reflecting the complicated picture of the times. In conclusion, Lovesand Sorrows realistically depicts Japanese manners and customs at the turn of thecentury when the meaning of philia affair was not yet definitely determined. Forthis reason, it can be considered a realistic novel that has a great significance inthe literary history and also shows realist writer Koyo at his best.
