초록

본 연구는 동양의 유가사상으로 인성교육의 고전이라 할 수 있는 명심보감에서 효(孝)와 예(禮)에 대한 전통윤리를 청소년의 현대적 인성교육과 관련지어 그 의미를 찾는데 목적이 있다. 연구결과 명심보감에 나타난 효(孝)와 예(禮)사상은 입신양명보다는효(孝)와 예(禮)의 실천을 강조하였고 특히 효경과논어 편에서는 효(孝)를 모든 덕의 근본으로, 예(禮) 를 백가지 행실 중에 으뜸으로 삼고 있다. 이와 같은 맥락에서 현대사회의 도덕성 회복을 위한 인성교육의 목적으로서 최선의 방법은 명심보감에 나타난 효(孝)와 예(禮)의 과 가치관에 대한 실천운동이필요함을 주장한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 인성교육으로서 전통적 효(孝)와 예(禮) 사상을 계승 발전시키기 위한 개선과제를 검토해보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인성교육은 가정교육과 연계해야 한다. 가정은구성원들 간의 의사교환을 통하여 공통의 문화를창조하고 유지해가는 집단이라고 할 수 있기 때문에 가정에서부터의 원할 한 인성교육이 실행되어야한다. 둘째, 효(孝)와 예(禮)사상의 지속적이고 심도있는 학교교육이 필요하다. 학교의 효(孝)와 예(禮) 사상은 단절된 효(孝)와 예(禮)교육의 전통을 잇기에는 너무 부족하다. 따라서 학교가 효(孝)와 예(禮)의관련된 내용을 증편하고, 실천하는 것만이 인성교육을 정립시킬 수 있을 것이다. 셋째, 사회교육이 인성교육을 뒷받침하고 뒤따라야 한다.
사회교육은 행동적인 대중매체의 영향으로 인성교육효과가 더 크다. 이러한 지향은 가정, 학교, 사회교육 등 세 가지 교육이 일체가 되는 방법을 통해서 가능한 것이다. 결국 효(孝)와 예(禮)는 올바른가족관계 뿐만 아니라 건전한 사회와 건강한 인류공동체를 위한 보편적 사랑의 인성교육으로서 이에대해 후속 연구가 필요함을 제안하고자 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the meaning of traditional ethics associated with filial duty and manners, found in Myeangsim Bogam the classical book on Humanistic Education rooted in Confucian ideology of Orientalism, through the prism of contemporary Humanistic Education targeting adolescents. The result of this study showed that filial duty and manners ideology found in Myeangsim Bogam placed a greater emphasis on putting both filial duty and manners into practice, rather than achievement of fame and prestige. Particularly, Hyogyeong and Analects of Confucius extolled filial duty as the source of all virtues and manners as paragon of one-hundred types of behavior. In this context, the best way to achieve objectives of Humanistic Education -- which aims to promote restoration of morality in contemporary society should be the movement of acting out and value there of that could be found in Myeangsim Bogam. Thus, this study looked into the tasks for inheritance and development of traditional filial duty and manners ideology as Humanistic Education as below. First, Humanistic Education should be provided in conjunction with home education.
Humanistic Education should start from home to ensure undisrupted and smooth implementation of Humanistic Education, considering that family is a group that creates and maintains common culture through communication. Second, school education needs to provide continued and in-depth knowledge and insight on filial duty and manners ideology. school education is too inadequate to provide a link to the disconnected tradition of education on filial duty and manners ideology. Thus, The school should expand contents which are related to filial duty and manners and practically promote filial duty and manners movement. Third, social education should underpin and follow the Humanistic Education. That is driven by the fact that social education actually has more significant educational effect in the field of Humanistic Education due to the influence of mass media characterized by action-oriented way of perception. Such pursuit can be made through a method that integrates the 3 types of education such as home, school, and social education, etc. After all, filial duty and manners as Humanistic Education rooted in universal love to achieve healthy and sound society and human community, as well as right family relationship, and for that, preceding studies would need to be carried out.
