초록

Yuri Butusov has been a symbol of provocative and experimental theater for a long time. And now he is one of the most popular and important director representing contemporary Russian theater. From 2011 to 2018, when Butusov was an artistic director of the Lensovet Theatre in Petersburg, it is considered a very important time for his directing aesthetics and a turning point for change. This study aims to analyze the changes and patterns of his directing aesthetics, focusing on Butusov's representative work since 2014. In this study, three plays will be analyzed intensively, 『Three Sisters』,『Shakespeare's Room』 and 『Hamlet』. These three plays clearly show the director's view of not believing in the text and trying to interpret it anew with his own eyes. In addition, these three works can be said to be the most clearly showing his directing aesthetics of Irony and Subversion especially in the visual aspect. 『Three Sisters』 shows Butusov's interpretation through the costumes and colors of the three sisters, which are opposed to the original text. 『Shakespeare's Room』 emphasizes this through the opposite sense of season. And 『Hamlet』 clearly shows Butusov's ironic choice through sex, which appears contrary to the original character.
In the research method, first of all, this researcher attempts to analyze the elements of irony and subversion revealed in the three performances targeted for study through visual symbols. Second, for the three works, the study focuses on the intertextuality between the three layers: the original text of the artist and the meta text that is attached, combined, and revealed in a juxtaposed state, and the director's interpretation of it on stage.
