초록

원명교체의 격동기에 요동은 원 중심 국제질서에서 명 중심 국제질서로 전환되었다. 이 과정에서 요동의 여러 세력은 북원을 중심으로 한 세력결집보다는 개별 세력들의 원심력이 강하게 작용하여 분화되는 양상을 보였다. 원말 시대문제를 해결하고 황제 중심의 일원적인 중앙집권체제를 추구하였던 홍무제는 명 건국초기 다양한 현안문제로 인하여 전략적 중요성에도 불구하고 요동에 집중하지 못했다.
요동은 원대 요양행성체제로 통치되었지만, 현실적으로 몽골, 여진, 거란, 고려, 한족 등 다양한 세력이 공존하였던 지역이었다. 특히, 고려와의 인접성과 다수의 고려인이 이주하였다는 점에서 요동은 고려와의 관계가 밀접했다. 이러한 밀접한 관계성은 원명교체기 고려가 북원과 관계를 지속하게 된 원인이 되기도 했다.
북원정벌의 일정한 성과와 내부적으로 황제 중심의 통치체제를 확립한 홍무제는 홍무 20년을 기점으로 본격적인 요동경략을 추진했다. 북원세력의 제압 및 요동의 동쪽에 밀집해 거주하던 여진족을 회유하는 초무정책을 지속적으로 추진했다. 그러나 요동경략의 근본적인 한계는 군정체제의 요동도사 중심 통치는 여진족의 회유 및 관직수여가 기미성격이었던 점에 있었다. 이는 직접통치가 아닌 간접통치의 방식을 띄었기 때문에 통치의 안정성을 확보할 수 없었다. 요동경략에서 요동도사 중심의 한정된 통치를 지향하였던 점은 홍무제의 국제인식에서 기인했다. 그러면서도 요동과 여진족에 대한 관할권을 두고 신생 조선과 갈등을 초래하여 외교적으로 조선을 압박하는 강압정책을 추진했다.

영어초록

The Ming Dynasty is the history of Chinese lasted by Han established unified dynasty, in its founding to destruction in more than 200 years, the edge of the Liaodong army has always being a special group to defend the borders of the existence. During the political rapid changes period when Yuan(元) was replace by Ming(明), the Liadong(遼東) was transformed from the Yuan world order(元 中心 國際秩序) to the Ming world order(明 中心 國際秩序). In this process, various political forces on the Liadong showed strong differentiation of the centrifugal forces of the individual forces rather than the gathering of the forces centered on North-Yuan(北元). In the end of Yuan era, Emperor Hong-wu(洪武帝), who had solved the problems of the times and pursued a central centralized system of emperors, failed to concentrate on the Liadong despite its strategic importance due to various issues at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty.
The Liadong was dominated by Liao-yang Branch Secretariats(遼陽行省) during the Yuan Dynasty, but in reality it was a region where various forces such as Mongolia(蒙古), Jurchen(女眞), Khitan(契丹), Goryo(高麗) and Han(漢族) were present. In particular, the proximity to Goryo and the large number of Goryo dynasties emigrated from the Liadong were closely related to Goryo. This close relationship was also the cause of Koryo's relationship with Yuan Dynasty during the period of replacing Yuan with Ming.
Emperor Hong-wu, who established certain achievements of the Yuan Dynasty and the ruling system of the emperor internally, promoted the full-scale governing Liadong from the 20th year of Hong-wu. He suppressed the Yuan Dynasty and continued to pursue a policy of conciliation against the Jurchen living in the east of the Liadong. However, the fundamental limitation of the governing Liadong was that rule of military government center of Liadong Regional Military Commission(遼東都司) was deceitful, such as conciliating the Jurchen and awarding office. This was not direct control, but indirect control, which made it impossible to secure the stability of government. The reason for the limited governance centered on the Liadong Regional Military Commission of emperor Hong-wu originated from the international recognition of emperor Hong-wu. In the meantime, he took a jurisdiction over the Liadong and the Jurchen and pushed for a coercive policy of diplomatic pressure on Joseon by causing a conflict with newly established Joseon.
