초록

본 논문은 월간 아리랑을 중심으로 1950년대 남북분단의 냉전적 상황에서 전쟁에 대한 집단기억의 재구성과 반공이념의 대중화 과정을 논의했다. 1950년대 반공주의는 논리성에 기반 한 이데올로기와 사상 차원이기보다는 정서적, 감정의 차원으로 구성되는 정념의 집합체였다. 해방 후 반공주의가 미소의 냉전체제를 기반 한 국가 시책으로서 추상적이고 수동적 차원의 인식이었다면, 전후 이것은 직접적 체험에 의한 개인의 생존논리로 맥락화 되었다. 대중오락지를 표방한 아리랑은 정론의 형태로 반공을 설득하는 대신에 이야기저널리즘을 통해 국민의 일상의 영역에서 반공주의를 실감하게 했다. 아리랑은 실화, 비사 형태의 서사구성을 통해 반공주의를 생활논리로 연성화했고, 전쟁이면사와 간첩, 스파이 담론을 통해 반공국민의 감정공동체를 구성, 이념의 통속화를 견인했다. 전쟁이면사는 전쟁체험을 가족주의로 환원함으로써 반소, 반북의 적대감을 내면화하게 했고, 간첩담론은 국가 위기의 공포감을 전달, 타공, 멸공의 무의식적 동의를 이끌어 내면서 스스로 반공주의를 검열하는 기제로서 국민 통제의 효능을 발휘했다. 이러한 아리랑의 이념의 통속화를 통한 반공주의는 국가 정체성의 수립과 균질적인 국민만들기의 일환이었고, 이것은 아리랑이 1950년대 냉전체제 하 분단 상황의 정치적 과제를 해소하는 매체전략이었다. 결과적으로 아리랑의 명랑과 유모를 내세우는 한편 반공주의를 교합하는 이종교배의 편집구성은 대중지의 상업화 전략의 하나였고, 이것은 1950년대 대중지의 생존방식이었다. 1958년 이후 간첩사건이 정권유지를 위해 조작, 활용되면서 극우 반공주의는 비판에 직면했고, 아리랑은 탈이념적 연예오락지로 변화된다. 1950년대 정치성과 상업성 사이의 줄타기는 잡지의 운명이었다.

This paper discussed the reconstruction of collective memories of the post-war and the popularization of the anti-communist ideology though a magazine during the Cold War in the 1950s, focusing on the monthly magazine Arirang. In the 1950s, anti-communism denoted passion comprising emotions and emotional dimensions rather than ideological and ideologi dimensions based on logic. If anti-communism post liberation was an abstract and passive perception as a national policy based on the prevailing Cold War system of the United States, it was contextualized as an individual's survival logic through direct experience after the war.Arirang, which focuses on public entertainment, spread awareness regarding anti-communism through story journalism instead of advocating anti-communism in the form of political discussions. Arirang spread anti-communism into the logic of life by composing narratives in the form of true stories and historical secrets, and forming an anti-communist emotional community through the discourse of war narrative, spies, and popularizing the of ideology. By transforming the war experience to familism, it internalized the hostility of anti-Soviet Union and anti-North Korea, Furthermore, espionage discourse served as a mechanism to censor anti-communism, conveying the fear of the national crisis, violence, and destruction.By popularizinf the Arirang ideology, anti-communism was part of establishing a nation-state identity and creating a the public, which was a media strategy for Arirang to solve the political challenges of the division under the Cold War system in the 1950s. Consequently the editorial composition of crossbreeding, which combines anti-communism while promoting the cheerfulness and nanny on Arirang, was one of the strategies for commercialization of popular magazines in the 1950s, and this was the fate of popular magazines. In 1958, as the espionage case was manipulated and used to maintain the regime, far-right anti-communism faced criticism, and Arirang was renewed as a de-ideological entertainment magazine. Thus the political and commercial tightrope in the 1950s was the fate of the magazine.
