    A Study on the Practical Use of Stanislavsky’s Method of ‘Physical Action’ in Educational Theatre

    Educational theatre is a process of utilizing theatre to achieve a educational effect and goal. Modern education requires a creative attitude in learning and judgement based on self experience as an important element. This is composed of the education for perfect person to improve human’s total and harmonical abilities. The education through experience, therefore, is enlarged and focused more and more. Based on the aspects, the strategy of acting in educational theatre mostly use a way of acting experience. Stanislavsky suggests the Method of ‘Physical Action’ to provoke an improvisation in subconsciousness through true experience. Developing the Physical Action, he uses ‘Etude’ as a method of acting training, which reaches the creative world in subconsciousness, inducing the psychological and physical action consciously.
    This thesis scrutinizes the possibility of eductional use of Stanislavsky’s the Method of ‘Physical Action’ which is the base of various acting methods. For this, I suggest to the acting teachers a practical program that includes relaxation of muscle, memory of sense, acting strategies with(out) object and language, and observation. This program makes the way of educational theatre currently used more practical in inducing students’ inner elements to the expression using ‘Etude’. In the process of ‘Etude’, the students, first of all, find and execute the action, and they experience the moment of subconscious creativity that make an emotional expression revealed. The students become the main constituent who express the situation that could be happened in the circumstance. Through this, they develop the abilities of creative thinking, cognition, constituent self, and self expression. In addition to the development, the students, through the way of acting starting from the themselves, improve the ability of self control and understand the circumstance and the other around themselves. And they finally experience the future that they can and want.
