『쇄미록』에 투영된 임진란에 대한 책무의식과 감정의 파고 (The Sense of Commitment and The Emotional Wave Height to Imjin War Shown throughout 『Shaemirok』)

초록

壬辰亂(1592-1598)은 丁卯亂, 丙子亂으로 이어진 고통과 치욕의 유발점으로, 국내 전후담론사에서 가장 중대한 위상에 놓여있다고 평가받는다. 임진란은 전란 및 외교사, 의병운동, 사회문화사 등 다채로운 역사적 시각을 통해 쉼 없이 복원, 재해석되었으며, 그 연구의 폭과 깊이를 일일이 헤아리기 어려울 정도로 확장되어왔다. 이렇듯 연구가 다채로운 분야로 확장될 수 있었던 토대에는 일종의 ‘責務意識’이 강하게 작용한 것으로 여겨진다. 본고는 그간 임진란 연구가 복합적이고도 폭넓은 연구영역 안에서 다양한 성취를 이루어냈다는 점을 인정하면서 임진란의 역사적 국면에 대해 국가, 조직, 개인이 각각의 책무를 어떻게 인식하고 완수했는가에 대해 논의해 보고자 하였다. 그리하여 『실록』보다는 임진란의 개별적 체험을 담아낸 문학작품에 이러한 관점이 다채롭게 투영되었을 것이라 상정하고, 조선중기 사대부 오희문의 『쇄미록』을 분석하였다. 『쇄미록』은 이념적 해석으로부터 자유로운 전란의 실체에 대한 증언을 포함하고 있다는 점에서 특별한 의미를 지닌다. 전란의 참상을 온몸으로 실감하면서, 왕실의 안위를 걱정하는 것부터 냉소와 비판적 시선을 노출하는 등 다양한 시각과 감정의 파고가 확인되기 때문이다.

영어초록

Imjin War has been regarded as some sort of trigger point caused a long time of humiliation and suffering and stretched to the First Manchu Invasion in 1627 and the Second Manchu Invasion in 1636, and as the most critical significant status in Korean postwar discourses. It has been reinterpreted and reevaluated through many different eyes on the prism of war and foreign policy, volunteer soldier movement to defeat Japanese invaders and social cultural history. The breadth and depth of its researches have been expanded beyond assessment, which could be assumed there must be some strong national debt consciousness on the basis of them.
The hidden side of the history of Imjin War research, there lie deep introspection and the responsibility and strong competitive spirit getting abreast of Japanese academic achievements for it. It should be overlooked not only as serious aspect in the Korean history but also world-history perspective for the comprehensive and detailed extensive study. Why does this consciousness of duty still exist after about 400 years went on? It can be explained they have possibly looked for much more further interpretation than simple and clear diagnosis that it’s just a teleological view of political phenomenon during the interaction between historical memories and social ideology.
The intelligentsia in the modern enlightenment period had criticized sharply the bad powerful of the society in the course of alternative investigation opposing western powers and Japanese imperialism. And then they summoned historical loyal heroes like ‘Eulji Mundeok’, ‘Gang Gamchan’, ‘Yi Sunshin’ as an alternative to ‘the bad powerful’ The latest research articles of Imjin War have concentrated on the individual documents and private literature and translated the full materials beyond the discourse perspective. The documents related Imjin War is again in the spotlight. 『Jingbirok』 and 『Nanjung Ilgi』 have been published several times. The true character of Imjin War has been revealed by various views discovered through 『Godaeilrok』 by Jung Kyeongun, 『Hyangbyeong Ilgi』 admired the activities of the voluntary troops in Gimhae and northern Yeongnam region, 『Shaemirok』 by Oh Huimun, 『Ganyangrok』 by Khang Hang and copy of Chinese characters 『Imjinrok』.
These private literature has positive connotation of historical narrative, characters and social life not taken good note of the fact or omitted in the Annals. So it can be developed further tied with them together lengthwise and breadthwise to identify and reinforce the substantive nature and more prospect of Imjin War.
