초록

This report will examine how the two aspects of body showed in Nam Myeong's chinese poetry are, who was a representative Neo-Confucianist and writer in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty. The study of body has not been done in Chinese literature meanwhile, but the discussions of body, human and nature, human and world have existed in the field of Eastern philosophy in it's own way. In the Oriental thoughts, human beings were regarded as a part of nature and the net of relations between human beings and nature became an object of attention. The body was understood as interrelated to perception, mind and morality.
Thus, it is the main object of discussion how the human mind[人心] which is revealed from the personal part of sensory and energy[形氣] and the moral mind[道心] which is revealed from the rightness of temper[性情] act on the human body in the discourse of body according to Oriental thinking system. On the basis of this premise, the body is understood as two figures. One is natural body which enables sensory perception and experience of the world. The other is moral body which enables developing morality and social practice.
Nam Myeong was considered that he strived to the life of Neo-Confucianist investigating the Confucian classics and fostering the younger generation rather than to the life of writer putting efforts into good works. Though he didn't took priority of writing good works to seeking morality, he never denied the literature as a way of revealing one's feelings. In his works, we can read his meaning of emphasizing the practice. So the characteristic of Nam Myeong's literature is helpful for grasping one aspect of a literary theory of Neo-Confucianist writers and this kind of investigation will be significant from the discussion of discourse of body.
