동대가야금보(東大伽倻琴譜) 소재 민요 <흥타령(興打鈴)> 연구 (An Analytical Study of a Folk Song, “Heungtaryeong” in Dongdae Gayageumbo)

초록

민요 가운데 오늘날 성악악보와 같이 가사와 선율이 함께 존재하고 있는 『동대가야금보』의 <흥타령>은 19세기말 민요 반주선율 등을 볼 수 있게 해 주는데 의의가 있다.
『동대가야금보』가 『동대금보』(1813년)와 비슷한 시기, 동일 인물이 편찬하였는가에 대한 검토 결과 『동대가야금보』의 편찬자는 『동대금보』를 참고하였을 가능성은 높지만 동일시기라 할 수 없고 후대에 저본으로 참고하였을 가능성은 있다. 『동대가야금보』의 편찬년대는 1813년 무렵이 아닌 19세기 후반으로 추정된다.
『동대가야금보』의 ‘조현법’을 통해 19세기 후반 가야금 조율법이 오늘날 가야금 조율법과 완전히 같음을 알 수 있다. 『동대가야금보』 <흥타령>의 형식은 보허자의 환두 환입과 같은 형식으로 AB/C(환두)B(환입)과 같은 음악적 형식을 갖고 있다고 하겠다.
<흥타령> 문장과 답장은 각장이 별개로 존재하는 것이 아니라 하나의 연속적 음악 흐름을 갖는 구조로 되어 있다. <흥타령>은 문장에서 노래를 부르고 나면 답장에서 기악 반주를 하고, 다시 문장의 선율을 노래 부르는 연행방식이다.
『동대가야금보』 <흥타령>의 출현음에서 주목되는 음은 음과 , , 과 같이 본음을 내기전 전타음들이 많이 있다는 것이다. 이와같은 전타음들은 <영산회상>곡들에서는 보이지 않고 <국거리>, <풍류치음><흥타령> 등에서 공통적으로 보인다.
<흥타령>은 정악가야금보다는 산조가야금에 어울리는 민속풍류음악이며 구음에 있어서도 표현을 극대화로 인한 구음의 확장(→), 전성, 퇴성 등 주법의 확장을 가늠해 볼 수 있다.

영어초록

It is meaningful that "Heungtaryeong" in Dongdae gayageumbo is a folk song that has both the lyrics and melodies as in today's vocal music scores, and that it reveals the aspects of the folk songs and their accompaniment melodies of the late 19C by being included in the Yeongsanhoisang type of music, which belongs to the court music genre.




This paper compares Dongdae gayageumbo to Dongdae geumbo to figure out whether they share the compiler as well as they were compiled around the same time. As a result, it is highly likely that the compiler of Dongdae gayageumbo referred to Dongdae geumbo but it can not be considered to be of the same period of compilation. It is rather considered that Dongdae geumbo was referred to as the original script in a later period. Dongdae gayageumbo should be estimated at the late 19C, not around 1813.




Examining the tuning system included in Dongdae gayageumbo, it is found that the tuning system of gayageum of the late 19C is completely identical with today's system. In terms of musical form, "Heungtaryeong" in Dongdae gayageumbo has the same form as "Boheoja":AB/C (episode; hwandu) B (refrain; hwanip). That is, each paragraph in "Heungtaryeong" is not discrete but in consecution. When translated, "Heungtaryeong" progresses in the order of singing, instrumental accompaniment, and singing. This piece is not clearly interpreted by its tones and melody progress.
What is noticeable among the tones in "Heungtaryeong" in Dongdae gayageumbo is the ddang () tone. This tone never appears in the Yeongsanhoisang type of pieces but in "Gukgeori" and "Pungnyu chieum". Being the same pitch as the ddang () tone, the ddang () tone is made by pressing the left hand finger harder than when making the other, which seems to be the reason why it was notated as its fortis. What is also notable in "Heungtaryeong" is that it has many appoggiaturas. These are also found in "Gukgeori" and "Pungnyu chieum". Considering "Yeongsanhoisang", the main piece of Dongdae gayageumbo displays distinction in space between notes and lines as well as the thickness of the letters from its following pieces, "Gukgeori", "Pungnyu chieum", "Heungtaryeong", it is presumed that they were added by the same author at a later time. Those added pieces are more of folk pungnyu music which are more suitable for sanjo gayageum rather than jeonggak gayageum, and their oral sound with the playing style were expanded for maximized expression.
