동아시아 漢字ㆍ漢文敎育의 發展的 提言 (A Suggestion for the Educational Development of Chinese Character and Chinese Writing in East Asia)

초록

동아시아 漢字文化圈에서 공통적 표기수단으로 사용 되었던 漢字ㆍ漢文은 오늘날에도 각국의 언어생활에 있어서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 한 나라의 전통 문화를 이해하고 계승한다는 문화적 측면에 있어서도 그 가치를 발하고 있다. 이러한 점에서 ‘동아시아 漢字ㆍ漢文敎育’을 이번 國際學術大會의 화두로 삼은 것은 그 의미가 충분하다고 생각한다.
한자ㆍ한문은 그저 중국의 문자나 문화가 아니라 동아시아 세계를 연관시켜 주었던 상징적ㆍ우주론적 도구였다. 이러한 점에서 오늘날 이루어지고 있는 韓ㆍ日ㆍ中 각국의 한자·한문교육 현황을 확인하는 작업은 매우 유의미하다. 특히 다양한 문화 전통과 언어 차이로 인해 날로 가속화되는 각국의 차별화 양상을 감안한다면 더욱 중요하고 시의적절한 발표 주제라고 할 수 있다. 한자·한문이 동아시아 문화권 국가들의 언어생활 속에서 오늘도 생동하고 있으며, 대대로 전수되어 온 전통 문화 속에서 이 순간에도 여전히 숨 쉬고 있다는 점에서는 모든 국가들이 동일하다. 그러나 각국에서 오늘날 진행되고 있는 한자ㆍ한문교육은 나라마다 그 처지를 달리하고 있으며, 이에 따라 교육의 구체적 양상도 각각 다르게 전개되고 있다.
이번 국제학술대회에서는 한ㆍ일ㆍ중ㆍ대만 각국에서 한자ㆍ한문의 연구 및 교육을 담당하고 있는 학자들이 ‘동아시아 한자ㆍ한문교육’과 관련한 다양한 연구 성과를 발표하였다. 각 연구자들의 양질의 연구 성과물이 한자ㆍ한문교육의 위상을 제고하는 데 귀중한 밑거름이 될 것이며, 아울러 다양한 연구 성과를 공유하는 과정을 통해 각국 한자ㆍ한문교육의 나아가야 할 방향에 대한 발전적 제언들이 보완되고 보다 구체화 될 수 있으리라 기대한다.

영어초록

Chinese character and Chinese writing, which were used as a common means of written expression in the cultural area of Chinese character in East Asia, even now play an important role in the life of language in many countries. In addition, from a cultural aspect it shows its capability for the understanding and succession of a country’s traditional culture. In this vein, it seems to be meaningful to present ‘the educational development of Chinese character and Chinese writing in East Asia’ as a topic for the discussion at this international conference.
Chinese character and Chinese writing are not a mere letter or a cultural modality in China. It has been a symbolic and cosmological tool that connecting East Asia to the world. Therefore, it has a significant meaning to examine the current status of education of Chinese character and Chinese writing in Korea, Japan and China, because the education is still carried out in these countries. If taking the modality of discrimination in the countries which has become severe with the difference of cultural tradition and language into account, this theme of presentation seems to be significant and timely all the more. The countries in the East Asian cultural area are the same in that Chinese character and Chinese writing play an active role in people’s language life and traditional culture which have been inherited from forefathers. However, the educational situation of Chinese character and Chinese writing is different by countries. And the concrete modality of education of Chinese character and Chinese writing is also presented differently in the countries.
In this international conference, scholars who taking in charge of research and education of Chinese character and Chinese writing in Korea, Japan, China, and Taiwan presented a variety of their study findings on ‘the education of Chinese character and writing in East Asia’. These scholars’ qualitative study findings will be a valuable foundation to enhance the position of the education of Chinese character and Chinese writing. In addition, through the process of sharing a variety of study findings among scholars and countries, the developmental suggestions for the direction of education of Chinese character and Chinese writing in the future will be supplemented and concretized all the more.
