고려시대 석독구결의 서체 연구 1)- 금광명경 권3과 유가사지론 권20을 중심으로 - (A study on calligraphic style of Seokdok Gugyol in Koryo Dynasty)

초록

본 연구에서는 고려시대 석독구결인 금광명경 권3과 유가사지론 권20의서체를 비교 대조하였다. 이 두 자료에 대한 선행연구에서는 두 문헌의 서체의관련성이 언급됐는데, 구체적으로 금광명경 권3의 권수(卷首)인 제1장(낙장)과제2장, 그리고 권말(卷末)인 제14장과 제15장의 석독구결은 유가사지론과는필체가 다르며, 금광명경의 나머지 부분과도 필체가 다르다고 언급하고 있다.
아울러 시기적으로는 금광명경의 권수와 권말 부분의 구결자는 금광명경권3(3장~13장)과 유가사지론 권20보다 좀 더 앞선 시기에 쓰여 진 것으로 판단하고 있다.
이러한 판단에는 금광명경 권3과 유가사지론 권20이 복장유물로 같이 발견되었다는 점이 크게 작용한 듯 보인다. 즉 같은 복장 유물로 부식의 정도가 비슷하다는 점, 구결자의 용례가 다른 부분과 달리 나타난다는 점 등이 서체의 동일성 여부 판단에 영향을 준 듯하다.
기존의 이러한 논의들 중에서 본고에서 집중적으로 살펴본 부분은 금광명경과 유가사지론의 서체가 동일한지 여부와 금광명경의 권수와 권말 부분이 금광명경의 나머지 부분과 서체가 다른지 여부, 금광명경 구결의 기입자수 등이다.
본 연구를 통해 확인할 수 있었던 것은 몇 가지가 있다. 우선 유가사지론과 금광명경의 서체는 동일하지 않다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 유가사지론 구결의서체는 예외가 거의 없을 정도로 정형성을 띠고 있었던 반면에, 금광명경 구결의 서체는 자유롭고 기입자의 개성이 많이 담겨 있었다. 따라서 이 두 문헌의구결은 서체의 동일성을 찾기 힘들었다. 아울러 금광명경의 권수와 권말 부분이 금광명경의 나머지 부분의 서체와 다르다고 한 선행연구에서의 언급도 사실과 다르다는 것을 확인하였다. 금광명경은 제3장부터 15장까지 서체의 변화가 심하여 이와 같은 판단을 할 수도 있으나 ‘[기호]’와 ‘[기호]의 서체를 통해서 봤을 때정형성이 확인된다는 점에서 나머지 구결의 서체는 개성이 다양한 서체로 규정지을 수 있으며, 덧붙여서 금광명경 구결의 기입자는 한 명인 것으로 판단된다.
끝으로 금광명경과 유가사지론의 석독구결의 기입 시기의 선후는 본 연구에서 밝혀내지 못했는데, 이 부분은 연구에 시간과 노력이 좀 더 필요하기에후고를 기대해 본다.

영어초록

The current study checked and compared calligraphic style of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong volume 3, Seokdok Gugyol in Koryo Dynasty with that of Yugasajiron volume 20. In the precedent study on these two materials their association was mentioned, and concretely, it is mentioned that Seokdok Gugyol of chapter 1(missing pages) and chapter 2 which are the book head of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong volume 3, and chapter 14 and 15 which are the end of the book, is the same as Yugasajiron in calligraphic style, but they are different from the rest of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong in calligraphic style. In addition, when it comes to the periods when they were written,it is defined that Gugyolja of the head and end parts of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong was written a bit earlier than chapter 3~13 of it and Yugasajiron.
It seems that in this judgment the fact Geumgwang Myeonggyeong volume 3 and Yugasajiron volume 20 were found as costume relics played a significant role. Namely,it seems that the sameness of this calligraphic style was affected in that they are the same costume relics and the level of their corrosion is similar, and the example of Gugyolja appears to be different from other parts etc.
Among these existing discussions, the parts examined intensively in this paper involve whether the calligraphic style of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong and Yugasajiron is the same one, and whether the volume head and end part of the former have different calligraphic style from its rest, and accordingly, we were to estimate how many writers were for Gugyolja of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong.
There are a few things we could find out through this study. First, it was found that the calligraphic style of Yugasajiron and Geumgwang Myeonggyeong is not identical.
While the calligraphic style of Gugyolja of Yugasajiron was too typical to have any exception, that of Gugyolja of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong was free and contained personalities of writers a lot. Therefore, it was difficult to find the commonness of the two in calligraphic style. Besides, it was confirmed that the mention of the precedent study that the volume head and end parts of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong have different calligraphic style from its rest parts, is not true. It is possible to define this as change in the calligraphic style is sharp from chapter 3 to chapter 15 of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong but the calligraphic style of ‘[기호]’, ‘[기호]’ indicates its consistency from chapter 3 to chapter so it is impossible to say the calligraphic style is the same, and in addition, it is defined that the writer of Gugyolja of Geumgwang Myeonggyeong was one person.
Finally, in this study it was impossible to fond out the order of the period of Seokdok Gugyol regarding which one is previous among Geumgwang Myeonggyeong and Yugasajiron, and since time and efforts for this part are required more, we expect the future studies.
