연구노트 - 무신도 제작자 연구 (A Study on the Painters of Shamanistic Spirits)

초록

이 글은 무신도 제작자를 살핀 글이다. 무신도에 대한 자료 집적도 이루어지고 연구도 진행되었지만, 무신도 제작자에 대해서는 살펴지지 않았다. 이 글에서는 서울 지역 무신도 제작자 황춘성과 임태화, 황해도굿 무신도 제작자 유수명과 박영길, 안승삼과 안정모, 황영익을 살폈다. 각 개인에 대한 정보를 정리한 후 그들이 그린 무신도의 특징을 간단하게 살폈다. 그리고 유수명과 박영길의 무신도는 그 가치가 높음으로 수집과 연구, 보전이 필요하다고 했다. 유수명과 박영길의 무신도는 현재 그려지는 무신도의 모본 역할을 하고 있으며 안승삼과 안정모의 무신도는 현재 가장 숫자가 많고 널리 퍼져 있다. 안승삼과 안정모의 무신도는 여러 무신도 제작자에게 영향을 주어 기본 형태가 그대로 이어지고 있다. 하지만 무신도에 대한 관심과 연구가 부족하여 무신도 제작자들도 스스로의 이름을 드러내지 않아 실상이 아직은 밝혀지지 않았다. 이글에 제시한 몇몇 무신도 제작자에 대한 정보를 바탕으로 무신도 제작의 실상에 대한 연구가 이루어지기를 희망한다. 현재 몇 사람의 무속인이 무신도를 제작하고 있으며 그들은 굿당에 홍보 포스터를 붙여 주문을 받기도 해 새로운 양상을 보인다. 개인이 봉안하는 무신도도 중요하지만 마을 제당에 남아있는 무신도는 역사적 연원으로 인해 가치가 각별하다. 이에 대한 관심도 가져야 함을 촉구했다.

영어초록

This study is aimed to examine the painters of shamanistic spirits. Although materials about the paintings of shamanistic spirits have been collected and research has been done, the painters of shamanistic spirits have hardly been studied. This researcher looked into the painters of shamanistic spirits in Seoul including Hwang Chun-seong and Im Tae-hwa and also the painters of shamanistic spirits in Hwanghae-do gut including Yu Su-myeong, Pak Yeong-gil, An Seung-sam, An Jeong-mo, and Hwang Yeong-ik. This study arranged information about each of the painters and then organized the characteristics of the paintings drawn by them briefly. Also, this researcher has concluded that as Yu Su-myeong and Pak Yeong-gil’s paintings of shamanistic spirits are equipped with great value, they should be collected, studied, and preserved. Yu Su-myeong and Pak Yeong-gil’s paintings of shamanistic spirits have roles as models for the paintings of shamanistic spirits being drawn these days, and An Seung-sam and An Jeong-mo’s are the most and widely spread nowadays. An Seung-sam and An Jeong-mo’s paintings of shamanistic spirits have influenced many painters of shamanistic spirits, and the basic forms have been maintained plainly up until now. Unfortunately, however, there is not much interest in or research on the paintings of shamanistic spirits, and the painters of shamanistic spirits are also reluctant to let people know of their name, so the real aspects have not been revealed yet. Based on the information about several painters of shamanistic spirits presented here in this study, this author expects that further research on the true aspects of the painters of shamanistic spirits will be carried out afterwards. Presently, new aspects are being shown as some shamans are drawing the paintings of shamanistic spirits and put them as posters for publicity at their shrine to receive orders. The paintings of shamanistic spirits which people enshrine individually are crucial, too, but the paintings of shamanistic spirits that have remained at the town sanctuary are even more noteworthy due to the value they have to figure out the historical origin. This author urges you to pay keen attention to them.
