데페이즈망 개념을 통해 본 샤넬 패션쇼 공간디자인 특성 연구 (A study on the spatial design characteristics of Chanel fashion show through the concept of Depaysement)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 럭셔리 브랜드 샤넬은 명망 높은 패션 하우스로써, 분야와 성별에 국한되지 않은 관심을 받고 있다. 특히 초하이엔드의 패션쇼 세트를 통해 독보적인 아이덴티티를 표출하며 대중들의 소유욕, 소속 욕구를 자극한다. 이러한 이질적인 상황 연출의 디스턴싱 전략을 시사하는 샤넬의 패션쇼를 초현실주의 표현기법인 데페이즈망 개념과 연결하여 샤넬 패션쇼 공간디자인의 특성 도출을 목적으로 한다. 데페이즈망 개념의 원리는 비일상적이고 시각적 충격을 야기하는 방식으로 기존의 관념을 환기시키기에 샤넬 패션쇼 공간디자인의 표현 특성을 도출하는 것에 효과적인 매개체 기능을 할 것이라 사료된다. (연구방법) 본 연구의 방법은 먼저 초현실주의 표현기법인 데페이즈망에 대한 이론적 고찰을 통해 개념을 살피고 예술 분야의 데페이즈망 기법 활용 사례를 바탕으로 표현 특성을 도출한다. 이어서 브랜드 샤넬의 가치와 아이덴티티를 통해 디자인 전략을 파악한 후, 이를 기반한 샤넬의 패션쇼 세트 공간디자인 사례를 분석한다. 끝으로 사례분석을 통해 추출한 키워드와 앞서 도출된 데페이즈망 기법의 표현 특성을 연결하여 샤넬 패션쇼의 공간디자인 표현 특성을 도출한다. 또한, 도출한 표현 특성을 구체적인 샤넬의 공간사례로 정리하여 언어를 체계화한다. (결과) 앞서 도출한 데페이즈망 개념의 표현 특성과 샤넬의 공간 구성 키워드를 연결함으로써 샤넬 패션쇼 공간디자인의 특성을 도출하고 그 언어를 체계화할 수 있었다. 이에 따른 네 가지 특성은 먼저 자연의 이미지를 재현하는 과정에서 브랜드의 가치관을 투영하는 시도를 통해 모방 속의 차이를 말하는‘유사 자연 창조의 낯선 자극’, 허구적인 현실을 실현하여 새로운 자극에 노출시켜 무의식의 환기를 불러일으키는 ‘전위적인 환상계의 구현’, 일상적인 범위 내의 대상들을 이질적으로 결합하여 하나의 장면 안에 담아 신선한 몰입을 유발하는 ‘모순 관계의 공존과 몰입’ 그리고 다른 차원의 시공간을 동시의 개념으로 현출하여 절대적인 개념을 파괴하는 ‘무한한 확장의 동시적 발생’으로 정리되었다. (결론) 데페이즈망 개념을 통해 본 샤넬의 패션쇼 세트는 객석의 관객으로 하여금 상식의 맥락 이탈에서 오는 충격을 통해 무의식 세계에 강제적으로 침입함으로써, 고정된 견해에 환기를 불어넣어 더욱 확장되고 전복적인 사유체계를 구축한 세계관이 나타남을 확인하였다. 이러한 샤넬이 선보이는 패션쇼 공간디자인의 전위적인 면모가 향후의 새로운 경험과 낯선 자극을 유도하는 공간디자인 영역에 또 하나의 방향을 제시하고 창의적인 방법론으로써 점차 발전되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) Luxury brand Chanel is a prestigious fashion house that is gaining attention in various fields. In particular, it stimulates the public's desire to own and belong by expressing an unrivaled identity through high-end fashion shows. Chanel's fashion shows, which use distancing strategies to create heterogeneous situations, are linked to the concept of dépaysement, a method for expressing surrealism. Thus, the purpose of this study was to derive the characteristics of Chanel fashion using a spatial design. The principle of the concept of depth is thought to serve as an effective medium for deriving the expressive characteristics of Chanel fashion shows’ spatial design because it evokes existing ideas using methods that generate unusual and visual shocks. (Method) This research first examined the concept through a theoretical analysis of dépaysement and derived the characteristics of expressions based on the use of depth in the art field. Subsequently, after grasping the design strategy through the value and identity of the brand Chanel, it analyzed the spatial designs of Chanel's fashion shows based on this. Finally, the spatial design expression characteristics of Chanel fashion shows were derived by linking the keywords extracted through case analysis with the expression characteristics of the previously derived dépaysement. In addition, the language was systematized by organizing the derived expression characteristics according to specific spatial cases of Chanel. (Results) The characteristics of Chanel fashion shows’ spatial design was derived and systematized by connecting the derived expression characteristics of dépaysement and Chanel's spatial keywords. The four characteristics of this were: first, “an unfamiliar stimulus of similar natural creation,” which refers to the difference in imitation through an attempt to project the brand's values in the process of reproducing the image of nature. Second, the realization of a “potential fantasy system” that evokes the ventilation of unconsciousness by creating a fictional reality and exposing it to new stimuli. Third, the “coexistence and immersion of contradictory relationships” that heterogeneously combine objects within the daily range and place them in one scene to induce fresh immersion. Fourth, it was organized as a “simultaneous occurrence of infinite expansion,” which destroyed the absolute concept by expressing time and space at different dimensions as a simultaneous concept. (Conclusions) Chanel fashion shows, which were seen through dépaysement, forcibly invade the unconscious world through the shock of the destruction of the audience’s common sense. Thus, a worldview is established that overthrows the thinking system by invigorating fixed views. It is hoped that the potential of the spatial design employed in Chanel fashion shows will present another direction in the spatial design field that induces new experiences and unfamiliar stimuli in the future and develops into a creative methodology.
