충북대학교역사관의 건립과 활용 방안 (Establishment and Utilization Plans of Chungbuk National University History Exhibition Hall)

초록

충북대학교역사관은 충북대학교의 역사와 정체성 및 미래 비전을 보여주기 위해 만든 곳으로 2022년 3월에 문을 열었다. 충북대학교는 1951년에 개교하였지만, 대학의 역사를 제대로 보여줄 공간이 없었다. 그러므로 학교 구성원들은 물론 신입생들과 입학을 희망하는 수험생들, 학교를 방문하는 외부인들에게 학교의 역사와 전통을 알리고 소개할 수 있는 공간을 만들 필요가 있었다.
이에 2021년에 개교 70주년을 맞아 학교역사관을 만들 계획을 수립하였고, 박물관에서 주관하여 개관을 추진하였다. 우선 전시공간은 여러 번의 논의 끝에 1956년에 준공된 학교에서 가장 오래된 건물인 제2본관을 리모델링하여 사용하기로 했다. 그리고 건물의 외관은 건축 당시의 원형을 복원하여 역사성을 보전하기로 하였다.
전시할 자료는 기존에 수집하여 가지고 있던 자료들 이외에 졸업생들과 교직원들을 대상으로 기증 운동을 벌여 확충하였다. 특히 개교 당시 사용한 교기를 비롯해 유실된 3개의 교기는 새롭게 복원해 전시하였다.
전시내용은 학교의 정체성을 상징하는 교시와 교표, 교가, 교화와 교목 등을 보여주고, 학교사를 연표로 제시하면서 실물 자료도 함께 보여주었다. 다음으로 학교 공간의 변천과 학생 생활의 시기별 특징과 단면들을 실물 자료와 사진, 영상 등을 통해 보여주었다. 그리고 마지막으로 미래 비전을 영상으로 표출하여 보여주고자 했다. 전시기법은 입체적인 전시를 추구했고, 영상과 디지털 큐브 등을 적극적으로 활용했다.
학교역사관은 단순히 전시만을 하는 공간으로 만들면 활용도가 떨어질 것이므로 전시관 이외에 총동문회 사무실, 학교사 자료보관실, 첨단시설을 갖춘 세미나실, 대회의실, 북카페 등을 함께 배치해 활용도를 높였다.
충북대학교역사관은 학교의 역사와 전통을 홍보하는 곳일 뿐만 아니라, 원래 건물의 건립 목적에 맞는 강의공간으로써의 기능을 유지하면서도 동문들이 방문해 추억을 나눌 수 있는 공간으로 활용하고 있다. 또한 시민들을 위한 강좌를 열고 있으며, 학생들이 쉴 수 있는 휴게공간으로의 역할도 하고 있다.

영어초록

Chungbuk National University History Exhibition Hall was officially opened in March 2022 to show the history, identity, and future vision of Chungbuk National University. The University was established in 1951, but there was no space to show its history correctly. Therefore, it was necessary to create a space to inform and introduce the history and tradition of the school to school members such as students, professors, and employees, as well as new students, test takers who wish to enter the school, and school visitors. Accordingly, university authorities planned to create a university history exhibition hall to mark the 70th anniversary of the University’s opening in 2021, and the university museum organized it.
First of all, after several discussions, it was decided to remodel and use the second main building, the oldest building in the school, completed in 1956. Also, university authorities decided to preserve its historicity by restoring the exterior of the building as it was at the construction time.
In addition to the existing materials collected, they expanded the exhibition object of the Exhibition Hall through a donation campaign for graduates and faculty members. In particular, the three missing school flags, including those used at the opening, were newly restored and displayed.
The exhibition’s contents were to show emblem, educational guidelines, school song, school flower, and school tree that show the University's identity. In addition, the university authorities decided to show actual data while presenting the chronology of the University’s history from the opening to the present. Next, the changes in school space and the characteristics and aspects of student life were shown through physical data, photos, and videos. Moreover, they tried to show the University’s future vision by expressing it in a video. The exhibition technique pursued three-dimensional exhibitions rather than flat ones and actively utilized videos and digital cubes.
The Exhibition Hall will be less utilized if it is created only for exhibition. Thus, the alum office, the school’s history data storage room, the seminar room with high-tech facilities, the conference room, and the book cafe were placed together to increase its utilization.
The Exhibition Hall is not only a place to promote the history and tradition of the University but also a space where alums can visit and share memories while maintaining its function as a lecture space suitable for the original building’s purpose. It also holds liberal arts lectures for local citizens and serves as a rest area for students.
