초록

본고는 19세기 문인인 어당(峿堂) 이상수(李象秀; 1820∼1882)의 기행가사인 「금강별곡」과 한문 유산기(遊山記)인 「동행산수기」의 구성 및 내용, 표현상의 특징, 사상 및 작가의 태도 등을 비교함으로써 기행문학의 다양한 범주 속에서 한글 기행가사와 한문 유산기(遊山記)가 어떤 맥락에서 창작되고 수용되는지, 작가가 각 장르를 통해 추구하는 미의식과 관심사는 어떤 차이를 지니는지 등을 살펴보았다.
「금강별곡」은 출발부터 여행을 마친 소회까지 노정(路程)에 따라 유기적으로 구성되어 있으며, 여정에서의 체험과 소회·정서를 파노라마식으로 진술함으로써 이야기 문학의 성격을 띤다. 반면 「동행산수기」는 여러 편의 독립적인 기문(記文)으로 구성되어 있는데, 의론(議論)이 많은 부분을 차지하고 있어 산수(山水)에 대한 심미적 경험을 철학적으로 풀어내는 수상록(隨想錄)의 성격을 띤다.
「금강별곡」과 「동행산수기」는 내용 및 작가의 태도에서도 차이를 보인다. 「금강별곡」은 금강산의 산수미를 드러내는 장치로 사용된 풍수사상 외에는 특별한 사상이 발견되지 않고 여행의 체험과 감흥이 주를 이루는 반면, 「동행산수기」에는 유교적 산수관(山水觀)과 설화·유적·유물 등을 대하는 학자적 태도가 강하게 표출되고 있다.
서술 방법 및 표현 기법에 있어서는 두 작품 모두 묘사력이 뛰어나며 비유와 상상이 풍부하다는 공통점을 지니고 있지만, 「금강별곡」은 여행에 대한 감흥이나 소회를 직설적으로 토로함으로써 정서를 고양시키는 경향이 있고 「동행산수기」는 산수에 대한 이성적·비판적 인식이 많은 부분을 차지하고 있다는 차이를 지닌다.
이상에서 제시한 차이들은 두 작품이 각기 다른 목적과 용도로 창작되고 향유되었음에 기인한다고 볼 수 있다. 「금강별곡」은 작가 자신의 입장에서는 유람의 흥취를 노래하고 여행의 경험을 회고(回顧)하고자 하는 목적에서, 한문을 해독하지 못하는 주변인들을 위해서는 금강산 유람을 간접적으로 체험할 수 있는 독서물을 제공하기 위해 지었다고 할 수 있다. 「동행산수기」는 단순한 유람 기록이 아니라 작가의 산수자연에 대한 심미적 체험, 산수에 대한 철학적 인식의 결과물로서 자아 성찰·정신적 성장을 위한 글쓰기의 과정에서 나온 것이라고 할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

This paper compares the structures, contents, characteristics of expressions, thoughts and the writer's attitudes in the traveling Gasa <Geumgangbyeolgok> and Sansuyugi <Donghaengsansoogi> written by 19th century poet Eodang Lee, Sangsoo (1820~1882). And I examined how the Han-gul Gasa and Chinese Sansuyugi were created and accepted and the differences of the aesthetics and interests pursued in the various categories of travel literature.
<Geumgangbyeolgok> is organized organically according to the route from the departure to the impression of finishing the journey. It takes on the character of narrative literature by stating the experience, the subculture and the emotion of the itinerary in a panoramic way. On the other hand, <Donghaengsansoogi> is consisted of the several independent texts occupied a large part with the discussions. It has the character of an essay, which philosophically unravels the aesthetic experience of Nature.
They shows the difference between the contents and the author's attitude. In addition to fengshui, which was used as a device for displaying scenic beauty of Mt. Geumgang. No special thought is found, but experience and inspiration of travel are main in <Geumgangbyeolgok>. On the other hand, the confucian view of nature and the scholarly attitude to the tales, ruins, remains are strongly expressed in <Donghaengsansoogi>.
In terms of the narrative and expression techniques, both works have a strong point of description and are rich in analogy and imagination. However, <Geumgangbyeolgok> has a tendency to enhance emotions by directing inspiration and subculture to travel, And that <Donghaengsansoogi> has a lot of rational and critical perception on the Sansoo.
The differences presented above can be attributed to the fact that the two works were created and enjoyed for different purposes and uses. <Geumgangbyeolgok> is a book for enjoying excursions and recalling the experience of the trip from the viewpoint of the artist himself and also provides the reading materials for indirect experience of excursion for those who cannot decipher Chinese texts. <Donghaengsansoogi> is not a simple tour record, but a result of the artist's philosophical awareness and the aesthetic experience of nature. And is came from the process of writing for self-reflection and spiritual growth.
