고전소설 속 지하국 대적 퇴치담의 수용 양상과 그 의미 (A Study on the Acceptance Aspects and Its Meanings of Underground Station-Monster Eradication Folktalein Korean Classical Novels.)

초록

본 논문은 <김원전> <금방울전> <홍길동전> <최고운전>을 대상으로 지하국 대적 퇴치담의 수용 양상과 의미를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 네 작품에는 공통적으로 지하국 대적 퇴치담이 수용되어 있는데 <김원전>은 작품 전체가 지하국 대적 퇴치담으로 전개되며 <금방울전>은 중반부부터 끝까지, <홍길동전>과 <최고운전>은 각각 중반부와 서두에 지하국 대적 퇴치담이 수용되어 있다. 그런데 <홍길동전> <최고운전>과 달리 <김원전>과 <금방울전>에서는 공통적으로 무사가 여인을 납치하는 내용이 반복되며 <김원전>에서는 무사가 대적과 대결하는 내용이, <금방울전>에서는 무사가 여인과 혼인하는 내용이 반복된다. 이처럼 네 작품에 수용된 지하국 대적 퇴치담의 범주가 상이한 것처럼 수용 양상 또한 상이하다. 지하국 대적 퇴치담이 <김원전>에서는 귀족적 영웅의 신분 상승의 서사로, <금방울전>에서는 여성의 희생에 의한 남성의 신분 상승의 서사로, <홍길동전>에서는 서얼의 가부장권의 형성 서사로, <최고운전>에서는 가부장 최충에 대한 비판의 서사로 변용되어 수용되어 있기 때문이다. 이로 인해 지하국 대적 퇴치담의 대중성은 입증된다. 하지만 지하국 대적 퇴치담은 소설 속에 수용되는 과정에서 민담 고유의 민중성은 점차 감소되는데 이러한 면모는 소설에서 지하국 대적 퇴치담의 범주가 차지하는 비중이 클수록 두드러진다. 작품 전체가 지하국 대적 퇴치담으로 구성된 <김원전>에서는 민중성은 상실되어 있고 귀족적 성향만이 드러나는 것으로 확인되기 때문이다.

영어초록

This paper is a study on the acceptance aspects and its meanings of underground station-monster eradication folktale in Korean classical novels. The Novels are <Gim-Won-Jeon><Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon><Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon><Choi-Go-Un-Jeon>.
The folktale of monster eradication in underground station is accepted from the beginning to end in <Gim-Won-Jeon>. And the folktale of monster eradication in underground station is accepted from middle piece to end in <Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon>. But the folktale of monster eradication in underground station is each accepted at middle piece and the beginning in <Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon> and <Choi-Go-Un-Jeon>.
The folktale of monster eradication in underground station is transformed to narration of aristocratic hero's status rise in <Gim-Won-Jeon><Geum-Bang-Ul- Jeon>. But narration of aristocratic hero's status rise is based on woman's sacrifice in <Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon>. And the folktale of monster eradication in underground station is transformed to narration of concubine son's patriarch rights acquisition in <Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon>. Also the folktale of monster eradication in underground station is transformed to narration of criticize about patriarch Choi-Chung in <Choi-Go-Un-Jeon>. Choi-Chung is father of Choi-Go-Un. He is not protagonist of <Choi-Go-Un-Jeon>.
In the light of these facts the folktale of monster eradication in underground station was popular narration. And underground station-monster eradication folktale was expressed tendency of the people. But tendency of the people was disappeared during underground station-monster eradication folktale was accepted the <Gim-Won- Jeon><Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon><Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon><Choi-Go-Un-Jeon>. <Gim-Won-Jeon> is the novel that the folktale of monster eradication in underground station is accepted from the beginning to end. So tendency of the people was lost and aristocratic tendency was embossed in <Gim-Won-Jeon>.
<Geum-Bang-Ul-Jeon><Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon><Choi-Go-Un-Jeon> was also popular Korean classical novels. But <Gim-Won-Jeon> is not popular. Because <Gim-Won-Jeon> is disappeared democratic tendency. Therefore popularity of the folktale of monster eradication in underground station is due to tendency of the people folktale.
