대중매체에 나타난 무속의 문화콘텐츠 활용양상 연구－TV드라마 <해를 품은 달>을 대상으로 (Research on utilization of shamanism on cultural aspects appeared in mass media －especially in TV series )

초록

이 연구는 TV드라마 <해를 품은 달>을 대상으로 무속의 문화콘텐츠 활용양상과 그 원리에 대해 파악하기 위한 연구이다.
TV드라마 <해를 품은 달>은 원작인 소설 <해를 품은 달>을 각색하여 2012년에 MBC에서 방영된 드라마이다. TV드라마 <해를 품은 달>은 양반가의 여주인공 ‘연우’가 세자빈으로 간택되었다가 무녀가 되고 세자였다가 왕이 된 훤과 시련을 헤치고 결혼하는 내용이다. 천한 신분의 여자인 무녀가 가장 귀한 신분의 남자와 사랑을 하고 그 결실을 맺기까지의 험난한 시련극복의 과정이 작품에서 구현되었다.
이 드라마에서 무속이 콘텐츠로 활용된 양상은 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다. 먼저, 무녀의 신병이다. 강신무는 신병을 겪고 신내림을 받아 무녀가 되는데 이 과정은 죽음만큼 고통스럽다. 작품 속에서 주인공 연우가 신병에 걸려 가사상태에 이르고 무녀가 되는 과정은 이 드라마의 주요한 소재로 활용되었다.
이 드라마에서는 무녀의 신기(神氣)가 콘텐츠로 활용되었다. 성수청 도무녀와 성수청 무녀인 잔실이 신기를 가진 인물로 묘사된다. 도무녀는 신기를 통해 연우에게 사술을 써서 신병에 걸린 것처럼 만든다. 잔실은 아직 나이가 어려 자신의 신기에 휘둘리는 것으로 표현된다. 실제로 무녀들은 신기를 가지고 있어서 미래를 예언하거나 신의 의사를 인간에게 전하고 인간의 의사를 신에게 전달하는 것으로 여겨진다.
다음은 조선왕실과 무속의 관계가 콘텐츠로 활용되었다. 나라무당인 성수청의 도무녀가 왕실을 위해 무속행위를 한다. 드라마에서는 세자의 혼인 전에 혼인여탐굿을 했다. 실제로 조선시대에 무당기관인 성수청이 있었고 성수청의 우두머리인 도무녀는 나라무당으로서 나라와 왕실의 안위를 위해 굿을 했다. 각 작품에서 이러한 점에 착안하여 왕실의 내명부에서 무속을 신봉하고 무속행위를 국무당에게 사주하였을 것으로 추측하고 구현했다.
이어서 정치적으로 이용되는 무속의 양상이 나타난다. 실제로 조선왕조실록에는 유학의 무속탄압이나 인목대비를 폐서인시키기 위한 죄목으로 巫蠱가 있었다는 기록이 있다. TV드라마 <해를 품은 달>에서는 훤의 아버지인 성조대왕의 이복동생인 의성군이 역모의 누명을 쓰고 외척세력에게 살해당하는데 의성군이 역모를 했다는 증거가 무녀가 쓴 부적이었다. 또한 훤의 할머니인 대왕대비는 자신의 친정인 외척세력의 정치적 입지를 위해 무속을 활용한다. 대왕대비는 외척세력 중에서 세자빈을 간택하려 했으나 외척세력과 관계없는 연우가 세자빈으로 간택되자 성수청 도무녀로 하여금 연우에게 무고를 하도록 사주하는 것으로 나타났다.
이 드라마에 등장하는 무녀들의 의상은 조선시대 무녀의 의상을 변형한 의상으로 표현되었다. 도무녀의 카리스마는 눈을 강조하는 분장으로 표현되었다. 도무녀가 무고를 할 때 눈에 보이지 않는 악한 기운은 CG를 통해 구현했다. 이 드라마에서 무속의 시각화는 무속현장에서 실제로 표현된 것은 그대로 차용하기 보다는 드라마의 여러 정황에 맞게 변형하였고 이것은 시청자에게 작품의 내용을 보다 더 쉽게 인지할 수 있도록 구현된 것이라 볼 수 있다.
이 연구는 대중적인 장르인 TV드라마를 대상으로 무속이 콘텐츠로 활용된 양상을 분석하였으며 향후 무속을 소재로 하는 TV드라마 연구의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

The aim of this research is to understand aspects and principle of utilizing shamainsm on cultural contents, especially in TV series <The moon embracing the sun.> <The moon embracing the sun> is a TV series produced by and aired on MBC, adaptation of the novel with the same title. Both fiction <embraces the moon the sun> and TV series <The moon embracing the sun> commonly make use of shamanism. The procedure that the heroine ‘Yeonwoo’, who was the crown princess, becomes an ‘Aek-Bat-I(shaman for vicarious evil)’ is quite similar with the process that a person having ‘Sin-Byeong(illness of process)’ becomes a shaman. Both works describe how a shaman, the most humble woman overcomes a number of adversity to bear fruit of love with the most honorable man. The story is an example of utilization of shamanism in cultural contents. Aspects of making use of shamanism in this work is summarized as follows. Shaman’s ‘Sin-Byeong(illness of process)’ is one used for adversity of heroine. To be a ‘Gang-Sin-Mu(spiritualistic shaman, )’ a woman should be processed by a spirit: this process is in the death throes. The heroine in the work, though she is not a ‘Gang-Sin-Mu, ’ undergoes a similar experience by the head of Seongsu-Cheong and know to bedead to her family. She becomes an ‘Aek-Bat-I’ and takes evil curse for the king, ‘Hweon.’ ‘Hweon’ comes to know who is ‘Aek-Bat-I’ and unveil the secret of death of ‘Yeonwoo.’ Such process is one of main ingredients of the TV series. ‘Sin-Gi(shaman spirit)’ of shaman is also used in the TV series. In plot, the head and one shaman, named`Jan-Sil’ in Seongsu-Cheong are descrebe shmans with ‘Sin-Gi.’ The head of Seongsu-Cheong uses ‘Sin-Gi’ to make ‘Yeonwoo’ look like having ‘Sin-Byeong’ while ‘Jansil’ is not matured so that she is under control of ‘Sin-Gi.’ In fact, we think that ‘Sin-Gi’ makes shamans prophesy, deliver god’s will to people and vice versa. Next, the relationship between the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty and Shamanism was used as contents. We can see that national shaman performs ritual for the safety of the Royal family, ‘Hon-In-Yeo-Tam-Gut(ritual to wish good maiirage)’ is held for the marriage of the prime prince and Former Queen instigate shamanism for her own interest. In fact, there was ‘Seongsu-Cheong, ’ national institute for shamans, in Joseon Dynasty. ‘Do-mu-nyeo, ’ the head of ‘Seongsu-Cheong’ performed rituals for nation and royal family. Rituals for royal family are not recorded in detail, so it is imagined that ‘Nae-Myeong-Bu(group of queens)’ believes in shamanism and let national shaman perform ritual for peace of royal family. Last, shamanism used in political strife is introduced. Annals of the Joseon Dynasty actually contains records, such as suppression of Confucianism and Queen Inmok’s performance of `Mu-Go(a curse of summoning spiritual insects)’ TV Series describe that half uncle of ‘Hweon’ is farsely chareged as a traitor and is killed by maretnal relative of King. The main proof of such charge is a tallisman made by a shaman. Also, we can see that grandmother of the king instigates shamanism to strenthen political power if her own family. She want to take one of lady in her family as crowm princess. But ‘Yeonwoo’ who does not have any relation becomes the corwn princess and hence she orders ‘Do-Mu-Nyeo’ charge ‘Yeonwoo’ falsely. In addition, the costumes of ‘Seongsu-Chong’ was real shaman costumes of the Joseon Dynasty with a little variation, Charisma of ‘Do-Mu-Nyeo’ is represented by make-ups and some activities of shaman are realized with computer graphics. TV series tries to adjust some details instead of borrowning original for viewers to to recognize plots better. This study targets to analyze an aspects of shamanism as one of cultural contents which can be used in popular TV series and novel aspect. The authr expects that this research will be used as the basis for the duture studies of TV series and novel dealing with shaman material.
